About this listen

I've seen every square inch of Violet Eatons delectable body, and she has no idea who I am. Until now. What happened between us online, in our chats, was meant to stay anonymous and in the past. Until it didn't.

It's a small world, but Ruby Creek is even smaller. When I move to the tiny town, the grumpy façade I've created slips when we're forced to live under the same roof. Every flush of her cheeks, every time her eyes flare with heat, every time she begs me not to stop, the ice I've encased myself in melts. She has me wanting things I can't want. Things I've been dreaming about since I first laid eyes on her two years ago. Things I don't deserve.

But my invisible wounds have the power to ruin us both. As a former soldier, I should have the discipline to walk away, but the more I open up to Violet, the more I want to keep her. I came back from the war a different man, but my scars are older and deeper than anyone knows, and I planned to keep it that way. I planned to keep my secrets hidden. Until her.

Cute

I liked better than the first book in the series I really loved the MMC. I don’t like books that back in forth between the pass and present and this does a lot a wasn’t fully invested till more that half way in lithe book. Still excited for the rest of the series

Beautiful story

This was my Mother’s Day gift to myself this year. I got to be all alone and listen to this entire book. It was wonderful. Cole and Violet’s journey took many twists and turns. I was most impressed with the actual plot of the story. The was the two of them met was something I had never read before, it was truly unique and fascinating. I loved hearing the “then” passages along with the now. Our narrators knocked it out of the park again. I swear Connor Crais can do no wrong. I especially loved it when Violet described Cole’s voice as so deep that he could be a phone sex operator!
I couldn’t recommend this book enough. Definitely go listen to, it’s worth it.

Perfect story. Perfect narration!

Honestly tell me two better narrators than @connorcrais & Vanessa Edwin….. truly…I’ll wait. Anyone who knows me at all knows I’m a huge Connor Crais Stan and he was perfect as the grumpy, brooding, tortured, sexy Cole - but like, Vanessa Edwin. I have no words she was the perfect Violet. I don’t know if this is weird or not but her MMC voice was HOT and like, did something to me. This was done so well, I loved that the texting parts of the audio were done in duet it made me so captivated in the story I couldn’t put it down.

We love a broody cowboy 🤠🤪

AHHH I love love love Violet & Cole!!!! I did not think I would love the sexy internet talking as much as I did

I loved the connection Cole & Violet had. She didn’t let him off the hook just because he was grouchy & obviously wounded in some way from his past in the military; she had a take-no-shit attitude and didn’t change that for him. It took Cole awhile, but he as able let her in and told her how much she really meant to him 🥹

a fav from Elsie!

I love this story so much! A bit of a second chance vibe, age gap, forced proximity, grumpy/sunshine, i hate everyone but you, wounded hero who just needs to be loved. Connor Crais was the perfect person to narrate Cole’s grumpy, closed off personality, and Vanessa Edwin was amazing as Violet!

my FAVORITE Elsie story!

Elsie knew what she was doing when she wrote these two. I’m going to come right out and say it : this one miiiiiight be tied with Heartless as my favorite Elsie book because ya girl is 𝐨𝐛𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐬𝐬𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐝 with Cole + Violet’s story. Cole is getting a bit more hands on with his family’s horse farm, Gold Rush Ranch, and Violet is of course the young, new jockey taking the world by storm [honorable mention : my baby dd from book one 🐎]. Cole is a military veteran and he is the grumpiest of grumps, so when Violet gets injured and needs a place to stay, he’s unimpressed that his home is offered up. What’s even better is this isn’t their first rodeo, and finding out how these two know each other is half the fun, so I’m surely not telling you, but she be scandalouuuuuus. 🤭 Cole is everydamnthing and I thoroughly enjoyed every single second of watching him snap, swoon, and go down haaaard for his girl. These two are easily one of my top reads in recent memory, and this story is by far the best kept secret of bookstagram. Do yourself a favor and read [or listen] immediately if you haven’t already.

Violet is a little asshole

Don't get me wrong, I loved the story but Violet annoyed me. She is sooooo independent that she became entirely self absorbed. Some else is working through thier own problems? How dare they affect precious Violet and her need for complete independence. Express concern? The very nerve.

ANYWAY lol I love Elsie Silver and one annoying character isn't going to pry her books from my hands!

Connor crais captured Cole perfectly!! Swoon!!

Elsie Silver is the master of female friendships and found family. My favorite interactions in this book are between MMC and his soon to be SIL, Billie. I loved the grit and determination of Violet Eaton and in this book she lives up to everything written about Eatons. I also loved the clear no bullshit communication between Violet and Cole. And the significant amount of the storyline dedicated to normalization of therapy by a leading man.

Good story. Kind of a slow burn. Took a while to get into it

A little boring Good storyline. It was just your typically love story. Nothing exciting. No suspense
