About this listen

Since time immemorial, humans have worshipped the gods they call Fhrey, truly a race apart: invincible in battle, masters of magic, and seemingly immortal. But when a god falls to a human blade, the balance of power between humans and those they thought were gods changes forever. Now only a few stand between humankind and annihilation: Raithe, reluctant to embrace his destiny as the God Killer. Suri, a young seer burdened by signs of impending doom. And Persephone, who must overcome personal tragedy to lead her people. The Age of Myth is over; the time of rebellion has begun.

Refreshing!!!!

Michael Sullivan and Tim Gerard Reynolds have done it again. After listening to numerous audiobooks while eagerly anticipating this one, it was refreshing to hear the talented Mr. Reynolds bring life to these very intriguing, well-written characters.

I thought listening to Age of Myth would be bitter sweet because of the absence of Royce (my favorite character) and Hadrian but I was just as taken with Persephone, Raithe and Nyphron. I can't wait to read the next book in this series. I know I will not be disappointed.

Good Job, Not Riyria , sigh

I loved the Riyria books, Hadrian and Royce, so much. it would be hard for this series to live up to my first love.I listened to them each three times. I enjoyed The Age of Myth, but definitely have the feeling that it is written with the series of five books in mind. It was a great treat to have the females with the most interesting and heroic roles. I missed a focused plot from the beginning. There were too many characters at the outset for me. I will have to go back and listen again. The story has shadows themes of the first series. I found my self comparing them all the time. Like -The heroic young girl who saves the day, the animal that is going to destroy the village. the evil established enemy, an unlikely pairing of male heroes. So I did not find that it was nearly as interesting and unique. Michael J.S, has a good format and he is sticking to it. He is a good story teller, and Gerard Reynolds is a terrific narrator. I especially admire Michael j Sullivan's writing style. It seems very brave to mix current diction with what one would imagine to be ancient times. He is able to pull it off without it seeming to be silly. I got lost several times in the story, not being able to follow the story line. I found it to be covering too much territory, with too many characters. Of course I will look forward to the next installment, and hope that it feels more cohesive because of this first introduction of the characters and theme. all in all the story was good. it lacked the depth of character development and authenticity that was so enchanting in the first series. It was a good listen whereas, the Riyria Chronicles was so exceptional.

Good Start to an Awful Series

Age of Myth really got my hopes up. After enjoying the adventures of Royce and Hadrian so much, I was really looking forward to the Legends series. This first installment was a strong start, not great, but strong, and I was looking for an increasingly interesting and enjoyable story.
Unfortunately, books 2 & 3 did in this series,
I'll post a more comprehensive review on Age of War, since -for me- that's where the series ends.

LOVE this book

Love this book and the adventures within it I only wish the rest of the series was available on audiobooks... After competing this book I was very disappointed after finding out the rest of the series was not available.

I LOVED it! As good as his previous books.

Well written with very likable characters. Can't wait for the next book in the series. I want more!

It might be better than the first series

Tim Gerard Reynolds’s performance is excellent as always, and the story (so far) feels better written than the original “revelations” series.

Really Fun Fantasy

Primitive humans (~500AD European technology/societies) interact with God-like creatures and begin to realize their worth. Great characters and a classic story with fun twists that you wish you caught onto earlier. This is just so enjoyable for Fantasy fans! This is apparently a prequel series but no knowledge of Sullivan's original series is necessary. I can't wait for the next one!

Great!

I really enjoyed this book. God's, Fey, and mortals are thrown together to try to coexist, without much success. The God's are haughty, pious, and murderous. Although I really loved this book, I do not think that I will continue with the series.

Good but the presenter needs to not whisper

I listen to these things while driving. Audio balance is important so some parts aren't too loud and I can hear the rest over the road.
