About this listen

This dark and twisty Batman in the blockbuster DC Icons series is an action-packed thrill ride from number one New York Times best-selling author Marie Lu.

An instant New York Times best seller

Before he was Batman, he was Bruce Wayne. A reckless boy willing to break the rules for a girl who may be his worst enemy.

The Nightwalkers are terrorizing Gotham City, and Bruce Wayne is next on their list. Bruce is turning 18 and inheriting his family's fortune, not to mention the keys to Wayne Industries and all the tech gadgetry that he could ever desire. But on the way home from his birthday party, he makes an impulsive choice that leads to community service at Arkham Asylum, the infamous prison. There, he meets Madeleine Wallace, a brilliant killer with ties to the Nightwalkers. A girl who will speak only to Bruce. She is the mystery he must unravel, but is he convincing her to divulge her secrets, or is he feeding her the information she needs to bring Gotham City to its knees?

Bruce Wayne is proof that you don't need superpowers to be a super hero, but can he survive Madeleine's game of tense intrigue and deception?

"Masterful.... A great story for any Dark Knight fan." (Den of Geek)

Great start to a great adventure series!

These DC icons stories are well written & narrated. They offer a new, fresh perspective on how some of our favorite DC comic players got their start as heros in their DC universes. I'm looking forward to more as they get published.

A terrific take on a teenage Bruce Wayne

Marie Lu gives us a fresh and engaging adventure of a young Bruce Wayne. Will Danton’s superb narration captures the mood as the plot builds to a suspenseful end. The story is geared to a YA audience, but long time Batman fans will appreciate Lu’s sincere and respectful handling of the Dark Knight mythos. I have a minor quibble with certain aspects of the ending which seemed a bit rushed. Overall, though, Batman: Nightwalker is an entertaining listen.

Solid Story

This book feels like a reinvention of Batman like how Spider-Man was reinvented in the Ultimate Universe. Differnt from the comics but not in a bad way. Very entertaining. I hope there will be a sequel.

An escape from reality

I thoroughly enjoyed this production. Great story. Good character development. As a Batman fan I was delighted in the use of characters and the potential that this story left for sequels. Hope to find more like this one to add to my collection soon.

Amazing!

I loved this book, the 250 pages were fulled of back to back action and it didn’t needed to be longer. Love Marie Lu and she has surprised me again.

An Incarnation That Calls to Killed

So, with Wonder Woman I was extremely stoked about the YA series of DC Icons; however, with this installment, not so much. I felt like many of the inferences were explained right afterwards and, well, it seemed rather boring. I know most of the Batman episodes involve Bruce never getting the girl and 9/10 she’s the villain. But it was to obvious that a certain someone would be involves in the crime. It was too predictable and lack many of the suspenseful and intriguing parts that were in her first series. I was truly disappointed in this book. Bums me out.
