About this listen

This dark and twisty Batman in the blockbuster DC Icons series is an action-packed thrill ride from number one New York Times best-selling author Marie Lu.

An instant New York Times best seller

Before he was Batman, he was Bruce Wayne. A reckless boy willing to break the rules for a girl who may be his worst enemy.

The Nightwalkers are terrorizing Gotham City, and Bruce Wayne is next on their list. Bruce is turning 18 and inheriting his family's fortune, not to mention the keys to Wayne Industries and all the tech gadgetry that he could ever desire. But on the way home from his birthday party, he makes an impulsive choice that leads to community service at Arkham Asylum, the infamous prison. There, he meets Madeleine Wallace, a brilliant killer with ties to the Nightwalkers. A girl who will speak only to Bruce. She is the mystery he must unravel, but is he convincing her to divulge her secrets, or is he feeding her the information she needs to bring Gotham City to its knees?

Bruce Wayne is proof that you don't need superpowers to be a super hero, but can he survive Madeleine's game of tense intrigue and deception?

"Masterful.... A great story for any Dark Knight fan." (Den of Geek)

needs more batman for a book called batman

it never actually says why they are called knightwalkers it's more about Bruce than batman kinda wish it was longer so they could have talked about him becoming batman but I am glad they made Harvey a good guy I was kinda hoping for selena Kyle to show up at some point other than that it was OK

not quite the Batman I thought but still good

it was a good story I found myself wanting to listen more and more. I did think that Batman was a little bit out of character but it was still a good story and I enjoyed it

Fatal attraction

This is an origin story: the origin of Batman’s attraction to the criminal mind. And how the criminally insane are attracted to him.

Great start to a great adventure series!

These DC icons stories are well written & narrated. They offer a new, fresh perspective on how some of our favorite DC comic players got their start as heros in their DC universes. I'm looking forward to more as they get published.

A terrific take on a teenage Bruce Wayne

Marie Lu gives us a fresh and engaging adventure of a young Bruce Wayne. Will Danton’s superb narration captures the mood as the plot builds to a suspenseful end. The story is geared to a YA audience, but long time Batman fans will appreciate Lu’s sincere and respectful handling of the Dark Knight mythos. I have a minor quibble with certain aspects of the ending which seemed a bit rushed. Overall, though, Batman: Nightwalker is an entertaining listen.
