About this listen

Compassionate and balanced, and focusing on the emotional health and well-being of children as well as that of the mothers who care for them, this book shows mothers and fathers how to give their children the best chance for developing into healthy and loving adults. Based on more than two decades of clinical work, established psychoanalytic theory, and the most current and cutting-edge neurobiological research on caregiving, attachment, and brain development, the book explains:

  • How to establish emotional connection with a newborn or young child - regardless of whether you're able to pause your career to stay home
  • How to select and train quality childcare if necessary - and how to ease transitions and minimize stress for your baby or toddler
  • What's true and false about widely held beliefs like "babies are resilient" and how to combat feelings of post-partum depression or boredom
  • Why three months of maternity leave is not long enough - and how women and their partners can take control of their choices to provide for their family's emotional needs in the first three years

Changed my life.

When my child was a newborn my gut was telling me things that society wasn’t. This book validated all of my instinctual feelings, and encouraged my family to make the sacrifices we needed for the wellbeing of my child. I am so thankful for Erica’s work, this book changed my family’s life for the better. I am now a guilt free stay at home mom and my baby couldn’t be happier.

Every woman must read this book.

This book will prepare you for what it takes to prioritize your children. I've now got the confidence to put my trust in the science and make the best parenting decissions. I highly recomend Ericas book and anyone looking to help raise and save our children. If you still believe or need to believe in family values this book will give you the evidence you need to make the change nessesary to combat a narcissistic world.

Amazing insight into the Strong impact that a mother has on her babies.

Mothers are important that I knew… but ….wow, this book really opened my eyes to just how STRONG the bond between mother and child is and how important it is to be in tune and truly in the moment with the child. Beautiful! I already shared with book with multiple others! Thank you for writing and sharing this book, Erica!

What I didn’t want to hear but needed to hear.

I thought this was very well researched and has a reasonable call to action: for parents to make an informed decision about prioritizing child rearing versus careers and to make a plan. We can’t have everything, all the time, all at once and that’s ok; there’s a lot of power and freedom and relief in coming to terms with that.

A must for mommies!

explains how the nurturing of mothers in the first 3 years is so important and how to do it right. and, how to translate mysterious behaviors of the baby and toddler and respond healthfully and appropriately. your child is an investment, these are the beginning years that form the base programming. pay attention at this time and sow the benefits later in life!
