About this listen

A young man finds himself trapped in a nightmarish realm beyond belief in the second installment of this action-packed LitRPG/gamelit series.

Lukas Aguilar used to think he knew everything. Mainly because he believed only what he could prove for himself. No gods, fate, or any such nonsense for him. But that seems like a lifetime ago. Because when an earthquake destroyed his earthly home, he suddenly found himself in a dark dungeon world where gods and monsters are all too real—and supreme goddess Inanna had taken up residence in his mind.

Upon learning the rules of his new existence—levels, skills, abilities—Lukas fought his way from victory to victory. That is, until he came up against an anomaly that got him killed (at least for a month or so). When he finally reawakes, Inanna is gone, and his own powers have increased exponentially. But that victory comes at a cost.

Now Lukas finds himself in a borderland, beyond the reach of the Asukan Gods and rife with ever more lethal paths. They may lead him to Inanna . . . or to his ultimate demise . . . or to ancient secrets that could shatter the very foundation of this world. The only thing that's certain is any path he chooses will result in a whole lot of death and destruction.

The second volume of the hit LitRPG adventure series—with almost a million views on Royal Road—now available on Audible and wherever ebooks are sold!

If you liked the first book you will like this one. I feel its improved a bit over book 1. Interesting plot and lots of character development.

Very good

This is an amazing continuation of the series and leaves me waiting eagerly for the third book. I really really like it. Nothing feels forced or like pure plot armor. If you ever have some spare time or just enjoy a good read, then try this out. It's worth your time. Action, romance, a little comedy, a lot of world-building, lol a bit more Luka... I mean world-building (read and you'll know what I mean). Just jump in and enjoy.

Solid Progression

This book is a bit short, but not from an absence of plot progression. I can’t wait to see what’s next for Lucas!

More Epic With Every Chapter

This story line is a fresh breath of air for the avid reader of good litrpg who’s looking for something outside of the box with a different approach to player stats. I tend to listen to books while at work, and I’m able to easily keep up with the progression of both the story line and character development while only listening with one ear on the story. With this story line I found that I wanted to pay a lot more attention, I wanted to be able to sink a bit further into the storyline and characters, while relaxing with my coffee.

This isn’t your standard run of the mill LitRPG!

it's a solid follow-up to book 1, and better imo, compelling enough that I finished it in one sitting which already puts it in the top 1% for me.

While I miss Inanna, she was a bit of a crutch in book 1, and having Lukas alone making the decisions actually fleshes him out way more. I really, really like what you've done with Tanya, though I wont spoil here. I also like that he didn't forget his promise at the end of Book 1.

The Sumerian Mythos blends here in a way I really haven't seen before (though to be fair I haven seen a litRPG use anything other than Greek 99% of the time) and the writing style is also somehow... better. Like there's a comedic undertone in a lot of parts that I really liked.

Tldr; Its good, if you liked Book 1, this is a 100% buy. The concept is unique enough that if you like LitRPG you should probably try this series.

Better than Book 1

Yeah, this book picks up after the first, and not much has changed....first I don't care for the style T.B. Mare uses to stretch out the length of the book I don't know why most writers think that stretching out fights or other events makes for a great book... and just like the first book I really did not care for the MC and I can't say this enough poor writing and the wrong narrator will always make for a bad book....I will not buy the next book.

I was hoping for better

Every-time he has a thought about someone else it made me cringe. The mental sneering, referring to intelligent beings as creatures, the way he speaks rudely to some people but lets Tanya push him in a way that would get her stomped out. The constant comparison of Tanya to the goddess, who’s only redeeming quality in the first book was that she was around (not by choice) when mc was alone. She kept her word to him too, ig, but it felt like an abusive dynamic. I just know at the end of book 1 I wouldn’t have felt all the grateful towards her.The action and stuff was cool but the inner and outer dialogue makes me positive I don’t want to meet the author.

Main character is a huge problem for me.

that's one way to stretch out a story. So little happened, but so much was talked about.

I'm impressed
