About this listen

New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Kristen Ashley brings a new novel in her River Rain series....

From a very young age, Chloe Pierce was trained to look after the ones she loved. And she was trained by the best. But when the man who looked after her was no longer there, Chloe is cast adrift - just as the very foundation of her life crumbled to pieces.

Then she runs into tall, lanky, unpretentious Judge Oakley, her exact opposite. She shops. He hikes. She drinks pink ladies. He drinks beer. She’s a city girl. He’s a mountain guy.

Obviously, this means they have a blowout fight upon meeting. Their second encounter doesn’t go a lot better.

Judge is loving the challenge. Chloe is everything he doesn’t want in a woman, but he can’t stop finding ways to spend time with her. He knows she’s dealing with loss and change.

He just doesn’t know how deep that goes. Or how ingrained it is for Chloe to care for those who have a place in her heart, how hard it will be to trust anyone to look after her...and how much harder it is when it’s his turn.

Fantastic! ❤️❤️

Wow, great writing and the depth of emotions and characters was well, awesome! Weaving the stories of all these lives, family and characters is so involved. I absolutely loved it! Thanks again KA for another beautifully written story and can’t wait for the next in this series!

🌻So much better than book one🌻

🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻V from Kansas🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻

This book contained all the pieces that book one lacked. There was more focus on the development of the Hero and Heroine’s relationship but, there was still great plot that surrounded it.

I have to admit that I liked Judge, the hero, much more than Chloe, the heroine. Chloe was too materialistic and snobbish. I cannot abide someone that must spend thousands of dollars on a pair of shoes. Quality is one thing but wastefulness is ugly. This is only my opinion. I much preferred Judge’s, down to earth, personality.

I usually always prefer a male and female narrator, however, I think Stella Bloom performed Judge better than the male narrator they chose for him.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book, my only wish would be that the book were longer. Too bad the next book doesn’t come out until next year.

Chloe and Judge!

I find myself not posting many reviews to my blog for Kristen Ashley books because there is honestly no way to not be biased. KA is my absolute favorite author, and I can go on a long spill about all of her awesomess but I’ll try to stay on topic here 😂

Chloe!!!! I was so excited for her book after meeting her in After the climb. We got to see her from an outsider’s point of view, and it was sad to see how little she was understood once I started this book. Judge was so good for her. He was also good for my ears with his sweetness coming through loud and clear. The scene we are given in After the climb about these two “meeting” for the first time was hilarious but witnessing it play out was even better. They start off with so much attraction and chemistry there was no way they could fight it.

KA is a very detailed writer; she paints the ENTIRE scene from the characters clothes to the curtains on the windows and I love that about her I also think it was needed in this book because of the flash backs and the multiple narrators. I’m late posting this review so many have finished the book and have the same sour face towards a few characters so I can’t wait to get to their story. Kristen Ashley is the Queen of redemption but after what I experienced in this book; I’m not feeling hopeful.

Until the next book I’ll keep an open mind!! As with all things KA we are given, love, pain, explosive sex, excellent dialogue, and beautiful connections. If you need a love story filled with many emotions give this book a try you need to meet Chloe and Judge.

Chasing Serenity is pure KA wonderfulness!

Judge and Chloe have a funny meet cute and fantastic banter begins there. Judge is alpha to the extreme like most of her heroes are and him being there for Chloe and wanting to take care of her lead to many swoon worthy moments. Chloe is an excellent heroine and a total kick as* character. Loved these two together and this start to a new series!

Good listen

I like this book a lot. The only issue I, which I have with all of Ms. Ashley's books, is the lengthy descriptions of clothing and rooms. My impatience with her could be that her taste and mine in such things are very different. I believe she could say more with less
er words. That being said, I will be listening to this book again because I enjoyed the storyline and characters.

Liking this something old meets something new series

Great story but if you are not a Kristen Ashley follower you will need a visual character list with timelines from other stories. I have read them all and I got list several times. There are so many names its hard to keep up. I had to rewind several times. If you can past that and I certainly did, you will enjoy this book and the multi layered characters she is known for developing. I enjoyed Judge from the start. It took me a minute to like Chloe and I still dont feel like her unlayering was done very well but I still grew to like her. Gotta say i am more interested in some of the supporting characters like Reese, her dad, his dad and the brothers.

Story

The narration is much better than in the first book of this series. The story is really good, with well developed characters, and beautifully written. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
