Good Book By Good Author

If you are wanting to understand Cognitive Behavior Therapy, this is the book for you. It explains it well, and describes it in a way that you can apply it in your counseling. Judith Beck is certainly in a place to be an authority of CBT.

Attention-grabbing

I tend to put books down that don't grab my interest but I refuse to do the same for this one. This book does a great job explaining how CBT principles apply to common problems of life. Definitely a must-buy!

excellent information, great voice

This is a well devised course, finely delivered, with clarity and practical examples of CBT in action. I highly recommend for anyone looking to study eg counseling/therapy etc, considering using CBT as a therapy, or interested in the theory and practice of CBT.

Very Practical

As a result of going through some difficult times in my life, and at my doctor's suggestion, I began seeing a therapist for cognitive behavioral therapy. I wasn't satisfied, so I began listening to this audio book on CBT. It helped me understand that the therapist was setting the groundwork in our first few sessions, and gave me a very thorough understanding of how CBT works and the many different varieties of treatment and strategies that are available. I strongly recommend this book.

I highly recommend for anyone interested in person

Very helpful book and it was delivered right away. If you just passively read the book, you will remember some of the active ways to lighten the load of depressive thoughts.

Well done CBT explanations...

Great course! I love how he explains the CBT process and reinforces the ideas with various counseling sessions with clients. We get to follow these clients through their initial assessment and through their homework. This course is good for counselors as well as anyone who wants to learn the CBT model to help with life skills.

Very interesting and informative too

This book is great! It is very helpful and provides a lot of information to help you help yourself when you need the help.

I would just like to say though, you have to do the work to get results. This is a workbook after all. There are charts you need to fill out, questions to answer, and you have to think. One thing I didn't like was that I had to think about things that didn't make me very happy. Sad things. I had to think through things to work out how to recover better and to be more happy.

This is a good book and it will help you feel better, but you'll have to do the work it asks of you.

Great start for people with cognitive issues

This course broken up into half our lectures on various subjects such as depression, anxiety, ptsd, addiction, and anger management. Strategies designed to help people cope with these issues are discussed in detail. If you have any personal problems like the ones listed above, I recommend trying some of these techniques.

A solid introduction to CBT

The Author/Narrator has a very kind tenor, this guides the entire course. The course is systematic, switching from symptom to symptom to break up any monotony. Numerous cases and recordings from actual therapy sessions are used as the primary teaching tool throughout the course. This provides context for the ideas and techniques being presented. This is an over arching introduction into what a course of CBT may look like. If you are interested in learning more about psychology in general, and in being exposed to techniques to help with the turmoil of life, this is a good start.
