About this listen

The Dream Ceremony is the moment every young person accepts a Lord's patronage in the form of a Legacy.

For some, this simply means they become better farmers or axe-wielders. For others, it marks the beginning of a long journey.

On his nineteenth birthday, Leland Silver was offered a portion of a Lord's power. The only issue… it was from a Lord no one had ever heard of—the Lord of Curses.

Teamed with his two best friends—a Legacy of the Berserker and a Legacy of the Chameleon—Leland must learn quickly if he wishes to get anywhere in this newly opened world. Together, the trio will lead a relatively normal young adult life: protecting caravans, killing mana-lions, learning to play the harmonica, and forging contracts with gods.

You know, the usual things nineteen-year-olds get up to.

I’m excited for the next book I hope it releases soon. The book series is awesome.

Too many plot holes, and inconsistencies. Midway through the book princess Sybil witnesses her older sister murder a man. This was done expressly to toughen her up. That said, later on she sees a monster die and has a quasi existential crisis because it was the first thing she saw die. While some of these inconsistencies are annoying, I really like the magic system and the world building in this volume. The booklore is pretty good, but I just think next time the volume should spend more time marinating in the editing phase.

Lore is deep enough to be enjoyable but not so convoluted that you need a spreadsheet. Story is paced well. Down time with characters and action. Thoroughly enjoyed.

Love the unique magic of the MC and the supporting characters are not simply baggage.
