About this listen

A dangerous new world. A mysterious Guide. To survive, he must grow stronger, learn magic, and fast.

Mat thought he hit the jackpot when he got reincarnated on a tropical island. Where his dreams of exploring mysterious lands and learning magic are a concrete possibility.

But world of Elydes is as wild and savage as it is beautiful and magical.

Though the mysterious Guide is impartial to all, Mat has the lowest starting point possible. Those like him rarely go far.

To not let his humble rebirth define his life, he'll need to find the determination to progress in power so that he may unlock the mysteries of Elydes. Only then, can he rise.

Don't miss the start of this Isekai LitRPG adventure about a young man with a second chance to find his true potential. Filled with plenty of progression, a detailed System, constant growth, slice-of-life elements, xianxia elements, and so much more!

A good realistic isekai

Realistic but not grimdark.
Pros:
The setting and the characters are believable.
The MC is growing at a realistic pace and is not OP.
The characters are interesting and well written. Makes you actually care about them.
Cons:
There is a lot of setup and not as much action.
Overall, I really liked the book. I hope the setup in this book pays off in the next one.

I love ❤ Kai's story! Get the book because I sure you will too...

I didn't know anything about the book other than the fact that I liked the cover and that Aethon published the book. Aethon has found and published a plethora of indie authors resulting in a lot of dynamite books to read. In other words I trust 'em! And Ohhhh boy, oh howdy Elydes a New Dawn was grrreat! It wasn't long after I started reading that I realized that I was totally captivated by the storyline! The book's reminiscent of a slice-of-life adventure only more so. As we follow Matt who's Isekaied and transformed into Kai with his birth in the world, where his life starts all over again... With a system that has magic and monsters and power-ups leading to a fast-paced story and Kai finds himself mentality excelling in Elydes! Especially when he's finally apprenticed with a mage, an apothecary, and their what? Butler/Enforcer? no that's not quite right either...
So yeah you should definitely grab the book, better yet get the audio. Because even though I had never heard Ryan H Reid before, I discovered that he gives the book he's reading while adding a pinch of flavor to his wonderfully nuanced performance.

I like it.

Not quite great but at least it actually makes me care about the world and the people in it which is not a given with audible book these days.

Childhood

This first book covers the reincarnation though to the first coming of age ceremony and managed to be pretty interesting without a big mystery or fighting

It was ok probably won’t get the next one

:Spoilers:

Not much happened. A lot of world building, good amount of slice of life,a ton of training basic skills like running, swimming, meditation, and a little bit of crafting. Not much of actual magical spells or skills. It’s mostly a childish MC training mediocre skills to open up the system (or guide). The magic system is very lack luster and not very interesting. With all that being said i give it a solid average rating. You won’t be upset with the book and you won’t be in a hurry for the next one. The narrator did a pretty good job

An amazing book.

Only critique I have, is that the mc, tends to stew in his dilemmas a bit too long, for a 17 year old reincarnated.

A fun story

The main character is fun to follow and shake your head at his antics. Sometimes he's a bit more childish than I would expect, but overall an enjoyable character. The world building has many unexplored threads that are pretty exciting. The side characters all have their own flavor. Overall, an enjoyable read

I was skeptical

This is Isekai done right.

There’s very little brought from earth or pop references. We delve into a new world with a mc that is believable.

It’s a slow progression but it’s never boring and all the characters feel distinct and well written.

There’s some dark moments that make the pleasant island vibe seem more realistic.

Has some highs and lows, overall a good background

Looking forward to the next book to see where things go. Narration was pretty good. There were a few parts that drug on and for a bit it was torture but overall I think the book was pretty good.
