Publisher's summary

The new Charles and Anna novel

Praised as "the perfect blend of action, romance, suspense and paranormal" (Rex Robot Reviews), the Alpha and Omega novels transport listeners into the realm of the werewolf, where Charles Cornick and Anna Latham embody opposite sides of the shifter personality. Now a pleasure trip drops the couple into the middle of some bad supernatural business....

For once, mated werewolves Charles and Anna are not traveling because of Charles' role as his father's enforcer. This time their trip to Arizona is purely personal, as Charles plans to buy Anna a horse for her birthday. Or at least it starts out that way....

Charles and Anna soon discover that a dangerous Fae being is on the loose, replacing human children with simulacrums. The Fae's cold war with humanity is about to heat up - and Charles and Anna are in the cross fire.

I think this might be my favorite book in the series! There was so much going on and so much sadness in this book but I loved the hunt and I loved the way it sometimes "takes a village". Seeing Charles a little different in this book made me happy too. I love Charles and I love his softer more emotional side even more. As each book progresses in this series, Anna and Charles become even better as partners in hunting the bad guys!!

Holter Graham was great as he always is in this series.

First Thought when Finished: Dead Heat by Paticia Briggs was another amazing entry in the Alpha & Omega Series.

Overall Thoughts: Charles and Anna are my favorite couple (yes they beat Mercy and Adam). I like the maturity and growth of their relationship over the series. Not to beat a drum but I like that it is a grown ass relationship with bumps, communication, and compromise. The story was strong too. I liked all the twists, turns, and continuation of the world. The only thing will be the wait!

Audio Thoughts:

Narrated By Holter Graham / Length: 11 hrs and 25 mins

Holter is one of my favorite narrators and he really nails this series. It does take a bit to warm up to Anna's voice but by book 4 I love it :)

I'm always ready to hear about Charles and Anna

What did you love best about Dead Heat?

I enjoyed the glimpses into Charles' past, and seeing Anna come into her own as a character. I have enjoyed all of the Alpha and Omega books so far...

Would you be willing to try another one of Holter Graham’s performances?

I didn't enjoy Holter Graham's performance in this book. Everyone sounded like the Godfather, or some kind of Italian hit man. I felt his syntax pulled me out of the story on a few occasions. I'm sure he's a great performer in other books, just not this one...

Any additional comments?

I would love to hear this book with a different performer.

Overall very good.

The narrators voice was too nasal when he was speaking in other character's. I love her s
writing so I tried to ignore my annoyance at the voice.

Great Story! Narration a bit disappointing

Really loved this book! Holter Graham usually does a good job narrating and I enjoyed his narrations in the previous books. However for this book he changed Charles ‘voice’ (and not for the better) which threw me. Graham’s ‘voices’ for many of the secondary male characters also seemed similar making them hard to distinguish. Additionally, the ‘voices’ for the children were really off. I truly hope that for the next installment, corrections are made so that the quality of the narration improves and matches the other books.
