Publisher's summary
We've all been there: stuck in a cycle of what-ifs, plagued by indecision, paralyzed by the fear of getting it wrong. Nobody wants to live a life of constant overthinking, but it doesn't feel like something we can choose to stop doing. It feels like something we're wired to do, something we just can't escape. But is it?
Anne Bogel's answer is no. Not only can you overcome negative thought patterns that are repetitive, unhealthy, and unhelpful, you can replace them with positive thought patterns that will bring more peace, joy, and love into your life. In Don't Overthink It, you'll find actionable strategies that can make an immediate and lasting difference in how you deal with questions both small - Should I buy these flowers? - and large - What am I doing with my life? More than a book about making good decisions, Don't Overthink It offers you a framework for making choices you'll be comfortable with, using an appropriate amount of energy, freeing you to focus on all the other stuff that matters in life.

McRaven addressed the graduating class of the University of Texas at Austin on their Commencement day. Taking inspiration from the university's slogan, "What starts here changes the world," he shared the ten principles he learned during Navy Seal training that helped him overcome challenges not only in his training and long Naval career, but also throughout his life; and he explained how anyone can use these basic lessons to change themselves - and the world - for the better.

For decades we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F*ck positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let's be honest, shit is f*cked, and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is - a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.

The jocks wore baseball caps and moved in packs, filling boisterous tables in the dining hall, and on the whole seemed to be another species entirely, one Will might encounter only at his own peril.

The narration makes me sleepy...
The narration is way too quiet and slow, especially for a book I'm listening to while I'm driving. I had to keep turning the volume up until it was up as high as it could go. I have turned it off several times because I just can't take it, but then I tune in again because the subject matter is good, but then I turn it off again. I was a little irritated while listening because I was so focused on the quality of the recording and the narrator that I couldn't focus on the content of the book. Good content, but, also warning you if you're thinking of purchasing.

Great tips and experiences but not so scientific or structured
Narration: calming voice but sometimes it doesn't match the overdramatic nature of some of the "overthinking scenarios." It feels dissonant sometimes.
Content: more like a series of customizable tips than a systematic roadmap to conquer overthinking. But I appreciate lots of VERY relatable examples and experiences.

Great book!! But next time.....
This is a great book, and I will apply the author’s advice in a number of ways. I love that she reads as if she’s sharing this information to a friend. There’s one aspect of her reading that I didn’t enjoy. She speaks as if she doesn’t want to wake the baby or something....speaking beneath her breath, just short of a whisper. I heard her interview on the Typology podcast, and she did not speak that way on there. She was full voiced and easy to hear. I’ll look forward to hearing other books, but I’d prefer the Typology interview version of her voice. Great content!

Why is she whispering?
I discovered this author from a podcast and was drawn in by her personality, which really doesn’t come across in this book. I usually enjoy books read by the author, but in this case, I hated it. Compared to her normal conversational voice, it seems like she’s whispering and using a weird, placating tone. I couldn’t even finish the book because I found it so distracting.

No scriptures to follow through on her thoughts.
I loved her demeanor in her reading. her calming vouce, the gentleness as challenging questions arose. What plagued me was around chapter 4; I realized I was reminding myself of what Biblical scriptures sone of her suggestion followed aling and sometimes wondering if some if her suggestions were biblically sound. I appreciate and head the advice but I do know my Bible. I'm heartfelt for a new Christian who wouldn't know the word and what God has to say about some of the influences in the book.
