Publisher's summary

Garrett has survived nightmares come to life and an insane murderer bent on carving his body to pieces, but that doesn’t mean the fight is over.

Banding together with the remnants of the Ghoul’s Tooth gang, Garrett finds himself thrust into a power struggle he wants nothing to do with. The city is filled with warring factions, each bent on using every means possible to come out on top, and they all seem to think Garrett is the perfect tool to achieve that.

With merchants coming after the gang’s successful soap business, the city guard breathing down their necks, other gangs eyeing their territory, and a nightmarish demigod watching from the shadows, it's going to take all of Garrett’s wits and courage to keep his new family from falling apart.

Armed with the ever-growing dream flowers and his loyal companions, Garrett will be forced to navigate the world of nobility, a place he never wanted to return, while he tries to establish the Klein family’s footing in the city.

Don't miss book two of a new Fantasy LitRPG series by Seth Ring, bestselling author of Nova Terra and Battle Mage Farmer. Join Garrett in this unique spin on the genre featuring a disabled protagonist. He'll use his intelligence and talents to make himself useful in a harsh reality, proving it takes more than just muscles to be strong.

Too short if anything

Loved it, was sad when it seemed to suddenly end with a bit of s cliffhanger so now I have to wait for book 3

Riveting

I thoroughly enjoyed the Machiavellian planning and thought processes of protagonist. This is a good series, and I look forward for the next installment.

Sequel was better than the original!

This book was inspired… so different from the usual litrpg and so much better than almost anything I’ve read/heard. This is on the level of the Nova Roma series. One of the best fiction books of the year. I’ve read hundreds over the past few years and this stands out for its smooth plot, engaging descriptions and clever storytelling. Well done. Can’t wait for book 3.

So much going on, it's great!

Better than the first book. Now that Garrett has gotten past the "figure out how to survive" stage, he's in a seat of power and is using it accordingly. I love that he's got several plans all going at the same time and not all of them are working out as intended. He revises his plans and is sometimes caught unaware. He's not omnipotent and that's great, because it makes his character interesting. But he's clever and ruthless in his own right, while still being a good guy. He reminds me of the godfather, and he's building the family, aka his (crime?) syndicate. If you like mastermind type (kinda villainous?) characters, with a pechant for doing good on the grey scale, then I'd recommend this series. I really like that the world building is starting to expand and we're introduced to several other gangs, organizations, nobles, merchant groups, etc. Even monsters are stepping into the story as characters. I'm pretty excited for what book 3 has to offer. The narrator has a boring sounding voice, but it's better in this book compared to book 1, so you get used to it pretty quickly and don't really notice it after awhile. All in all, this is such a fun and unique Isekai. I'm preordering book 3 because that's how much I'm invested in this good time.

Exceptional

One of the aspects that the listener will enjoy most about this book is the Robin Hood feel that it has, though that quality is somewhat dark, and there's a great deal of nuance in how the character deals with enemies. Also, the main character is unafraid to be exceptionally cruel when that quality is needed. So, I hope the audience will strongly consider adding this book to their collection because I think it's worth the credit.

Great story telling as always Seth!

This world was much different than any other I've heard from Seth but still captivating! Being in a wheelchair I enjoyed that he could walk in the dream world as most of us have dreams like that. Just great stuff!

What family doesn't have its quirks?

I loved this book. It's an amazing follow-up to the first, and I can't wait for the third. But I have to... :(

Dark theme

This series has a wonderful eerie theme and magical system. I enjoyed this dark fantasy a lot. Great job and thanks for the experience.

I really quite love these books, but...

Honestly, these are the kinds of characters I love reading about.

The setting evokes some of my favourite pieces of fiction (Bloodborne and Code Geass), and the main character is a manipulator, behind the shadows type. The premise - someone starting from the bottom in a gang setting and working his way to the top - one of my favourites too.

My only knock against this story is when the author has protagonist step out from behind the shadows. I'd have no issues if the situation is out of his control, but he often steps out of his own volition, for little benefit and, actually, to his detriment.

It goes against his character so much it's jarring, and I FEEL like it's only being done to inject conflict in the story. The issue with this is, you can't keep doing it and getting away with it, you make your genius protagonist come off as impulsive and not smart if it happens too often. That'll be disastrous for this series imo, because that's its biggest draw.
