About this listen

Contractor Shannon Hammer’s new project, renovating an old church, reveals some old sins when a body is found on the premises in the latest Fixer-Upper Mystery from the New York Times best-selling author Kate Carlisle.

While Shannon Hammer is thrilled to attend the premiere of the movie based on her boyfriend Mac’s latest book, she can’t wait to trade her killer heels for work boots and start her next renovation project in Lighthouse Cove: a quaint Victorian church that has seen better days. And will see them again—as a museum—if Shannon, her talented crew, and her sister, Chloe, have anything to say about it.

But on the first day of demolition, work comes to a screeching halt when they stumble on the body of a beautiful young woman in one of the chapels. Who killed the assistant art director? Suspects crawl out of the woodwork as fast as Shannon can restore it. The church is hiding a century of secrets from the days that smugglers wreaked havoc on the California coast. But it’s a more recent secret that someone killed to protect. Shannon and Mac will use every tool in their toolbox to nail down the truth before any more lives are sacrificed.

Great whodunit

Rehabbing an old church brings more revelations than one would think to find in a church. As contractor, and amateur sleuth, Shannon Hammer begins to work on the overhaul, she quickly realizes there are secrets and mysteries, and, of course, an unexpected body. Kate Carlisle's tenth addition to the Fixer-Upper Mystery series, Dressed to Kill, is a feel-good, charming story with great characters and a mystery that keeps you hooked until the end. It is not necessary to have read the other books in the series to enjoy this book, but it is fun to reconnect with a few characters from the previous books in the series. Readers who enjoy a delightful cozy mystery will not want to miss Dressed To Kill.
I listened to a complimentary copy of the audiobook and was not required to write a positive review. The opinions are my own. Jae Delane did a great job narrating the book which makes for an entertaining listening experience. I can't wait till the next book in the series comes out.

Another great addition

Kate Carlisle has crafted another great installment in the Fixer-Upper Mystery series. As with previous books I’m this series it had all the twists & turns.
Jae Delane, as always, gave a stellar performance as she breathed life into the story and gave each character their own distinct voice.
I always look forward to the next in series.

Correction of previous review

In a previous review, I wrote that I might not finish the book because I was turned off by all the sugary relationships in the beginning among the two couples and I thought the home improvement part went on too long. I'm very glad I continued with the book. Once they all left Hollywood and returned home, the mystery begins and it's terrific! I highly recommend this fun and interesting story

Location, location, location

It is always a delight to visit Lighthouse Cove and catch up with Shannon, her crew, friends, and family. I particularly enjoyed the location (a church) of the renovation project and the introduction of a new crew member, Buck. Jae Delane's narration continues to be enjoyable. A fun listen.
