Complement sandwich

Elle seems like a smart girl with a direction in life professionally with goals and aspirations. 😬 Does she get herself into uncomfortable situations, some of them avoidable? Yes. However, given that she is 19, I suppose I can see how she doesn't make the best of choices. For James being 25, he acts like he's 19 with his emotions and actions. He has sound reasons for not wanting to get physical with Elle, explains why he feels they shouldn't and then 3 seconds later, he's ramming into her 😒. No self control on his part. The book ended at the close of summer, so we don't know if they truly got a HEA. I'm glad they have plans to stay together while in school and to see where life leads them.

Narration: The female narrator has a nice voice and is okay. it felt like you could tell she was reading. The male narrator 😬 sounded intoxicated throughout the book and it was unpleasant 😳.

Im not sure if I would have liked this book better had I not listened to it. You may be wondering why I continued to listen to the narration and the simplest answer is that my eyeballs needed a break. I also don't have the will to DNF as I feel there is always potential and I have a case of FOMO.

3.5 Stars

3.5 Stars

The story was enjoyable enough, but I was having a hard time with the back and forth, wishy washy-ness of the Hero. The first half was frustrating until some drama pumped some life into the story. The second half was a bit more entertaining, but not enough to give more than 3.5 stars.

Not a good one from this author

I'm a fan of this author but this one is a miss.

The heroine is a hard luck but super sexy, super beautiful coed who lets everyone steamroll all over her. She has uncaring parents, men around her who are capable only of being lascivious, and a vile, backstabbing best friend. The hero is a complete asshat who seems to only want to bed her on the DL, on his terms and only for the summer. She allows it eagerly because, well, she doesn’t have anything on her mind but her crush. Lame. Then she is hurt towards the end that he doesn’t love her. Roll eyes.

Not a fan of Rock Engle’s narration: he seems to be drunk or on the verge of sleep here. The lady narrator is a tad better but she sounds like a whiny 15yo.
