How to Help Manage Your Anxiety

This audio book was a joy to discover. I use to have a partner who was a highly sensitive person, and I did not know what to do. I wish I had this book back then to help manage anxiety and invest more into the relationship.

The author dives deep into what a highly sensitive person is and what to do when they are trying to expand self care. Greatly recommend the book!

Know Thy Self, You May Belong To A Rare Kind

Knowing thyself is said to be the highest form of knowledge. This book helped me explore my inner self. It paves the way for an introspection to know oneself even better. The author gave a walk through the psyche of highly sensitive people. In doing so, I was able to make a self-assessment whether I belong to this rare class. And whether or not I do, it was able to show me the way on how to deal with this type of personality. Good thing two perspectives were assumed by Linda in sharing the characteristics of highly sensitive individuals. The discussions were enough to understand the mindset and behavior associated with this class of people.

Something To Know About Your Sensitivity Right Now

I now have the words and the voice to explain why I frequently get overwhelm or overstimulation thanks to this book. I sometimes feel a heaviness in my soul and am very sensitive to other people's emotions. This can be challenging and draining. HSPs frequently face problems or challenges as a result of their "overly sensitive" nature. However, the world can benefit much from our emotional and mental awareness. To learn how to deal with it and avoid using it as a justification to put off taking care of loved ones requires self-awareness and equilibrium. I discussed this with my doctors and therapist so they could better treat me.

Helpful

This is the only source I've found that so clearly separates the "Highly Sensitive" trait from simply being an introvert (which I am not). This book helped me understand my own personality in a way I've been looking for since I was little. I feel empowered by this new knowledge, and more able to adapt and adjust to be a happier person, partner and human.
The only reason I gave this 4 stars and not 5 is because I think the author may lose readers when going in depth into subjects like psychotherapy, early childhood being the cause of most adult problems, and spiritual beliefs. Not to say some won't find this information helpful, but that it makes the book a more dense read, and in my opinion, strays from the main subject.

great for highly sensitive and anxious people

I loved this audiobook. I learned so much about myself as a highly sensitive person who is prone to anxiety. I learned how to take care of myself and how to relate to the world better so that I could have a better quality of life as a highly sensitive person. Listen. I recommend this book to anybody who thinks that they are sensitive or dealing with anybody that is highly sensitive or anxious.

Understanding the Misunderstood

This book is of incredible relativity to me, since I've lived life as a Highly Sensitive Person, inclining towards introversion. I've grappled with ruminating thoughts, anxiety, depressive bouts in the face of self-abandon as a byproduct of avoiding conflicts. In life, I've deeply felt outcast and misunderstood though I was physically present, emotionally in-tune with everyone and everything around me — which, if I didn't have a positive self-image and confidence, doubled the sense of alienation I felt in forming + maintaining authentic connections with others, beyond the surface. Listening to this was really a whole flashback through my childhood and adolescent years, and to hear that what I was experiencing was in fact characteristic of a Highly Sensitive Person's plight, it left me feeling more empowered and assured that this journey of recovery + self-care I've been on is worth expanding, outwards from my inner acceptance, identifying of needs, setting of boundaries, and hopeful encouragement of others through embodiment that feeling deeply was never a defect. I'm exactly who I need to be.

Anxiety & Sensitivity exclusive coverage!

If you are that person facing challenges within self, with peers, at home or at work due to some unexplained emotions, or you're that person experiencing something of the sort with close persons in your life, then this is the book for you to listen to during that 'me-self', time for you! I have found this book, "Highly Sensitive" an exclusive coverage for helping understanding emotions and how to deal with anxiety while observing calm at all times. I have come to understand the characteristics of highly sensitive persons and some quality knowledge of anxiety at different life scenario. The setup of the audio recording is quite a great job such that the narration is easy to grasp, etc. Most of my questions have been answered in regard to why people behave the way they do at times and will go along way to me being able to handle some situations that may arise at work. I will certainly re-listen to this audio once again during my next long jog!

Excellent explanation of an HDP

I’m an HSP. I’ve read some articles but was looking for a deeper understanding of the HSP.
This book does not disappoint. I now have a more in-depth and organizational knowledge of the HSP.
The author answered every question in my mind. It’s freeing to understand oneself. I totally identified with every chapter!
Kudos to you! I look forward to listening to more from this author.
In my opinion, it’s the absolute best written book on the HSP.

A great and Informative book!

I suffer from a lot of anxiety and depression. I often find solace in listening to books and when I came across this book, It felt like therapy.
First, I didn't know I am a Highly sensitive person until I read this book. The book explains clearly what an HSP is by use of symptoms and that's when I realized what has been troubling me all along. I am easily irritated and after the first few times of listening to this book, I am somewhat able to control my emotions,
By listening to this book, I have been able to set healthy boundaries and stop people-pleasing.
The book is such an excellent therapy for Highly sensitive persons. I highly recommend it.

The Highly Sensitive Person Meets Anxiety & More

The author succeeds in presenting very valuable information regarding what life is like for highly sensitive people. Among the many challenges that highly sensitive people can encounter, anxiety is a key and formidable- but not impossible- opponent. With a delicate nervous system and ever feeling heart, highly sensitive people can feel overwhelmed and misunderstood in various places within their life, including among family members, co-workers and intimate partners. With a sensible narrator presenting this information in order to help an HSP feel more confident and protected, the author advises, wisely, that HSPs know how to protect themselves and how to set healthy boundaries- i.e. no now to say NO and be just fine with that answer and another person's reaction, be it good or bad. Anxiety and/or depression or just plain old feeling overwhelmed can be managed in order to live a healthy and pleasing existence for any HSP out there. This book is an excellent resource to read not once, but many times over.
