How to Build Your Dream Home Laying a Solid Foundation, by Kris Land is the real deal. It's a thorough audiobook for the novice home builder. So much goes into doing it right. From the site to the foundation to the permits required -hiring people who you can trust is paramount- so you must do your homework! Sometimes if the contractors cut corners, problems can arise immediately...or worse, after months or years.
Money is an important consideration but just getting the cheapest person to do a job is not the best idea. (as Land points out with the real-life situations and examples he presents.) Knowledge is power- if you are building a house or know someone who is this is the perfect listen.
