Just Ok

This book was not for me and I didn't get anything out of it. It wasn't at all what I was expecting. there were no ah ha moments. One advice given was to talk about the weather for small talk. This is such old advice and people hate that... it screams I'm boring, lol. The author does go into toxic relationships which I felt was a bit off topic, but it was actually the best chapter. This might help someone with absolutely NO social skills, but if you're wanting to build on social skills you already have, this is NOT the book for you. I can't say this book is bad, but I can say I'm not the right audience for this book. I hope this helps future readers!

Great as neurodivergent, was not always affirming

Love the chapter on being your genuine self near the end. Pieces in the beginning felt little simple and some pieces in the middle definitely were not written with neurodivergent individuals in mind, but overall this book 1has some useful information.

So helpful!

This book was so helpful! I struggle with my communication skills and this has an impact on my relationships and when I meet new people. This book really helped me understand that I need to change my mindset and gave me tips on how to do so. The narrator was also great. Very easy to listen to.

Surprisingly thorough, inclusive and trauma informed

I appreciate how the author addressed how trauma and lived experience can affect the way we communicate and perceive information from others. There are also recommendations fir further reading materials that delve into specific subjects that are breifly touched on in this book.
