About this listen
I do. A simple expression whose meaning is too often ignored. In America, abusive relationships have become an epidemic. In a society that is becoming increasingly more fractured, domestic abuse is on an unprecedented rise. As much as we as a culture are inundated with domestic abuse stories, though, sadly little is openly discussed about the causes behind these dysfunctional relationships. Though much is written about changing an abusive partner, little is written to identify one.
For the first time, author Ron Glick has dedicated a book entirely to the subject of the most dominant underlying cause of domestic abuse: the abuse-control cycle. Ranging from gratuity through domination, the author sets out to frankly discuss all four individual phases of the abuse-control cycle with simple, straightforward candor, as well as discussing the only true solution to the epidemic: the Independent Domestic Objective.

You might feel like others control you too easily, or perhaps you end up in situations you try to wish your way out of. Ninety-eight percent of men admit to having fantasies about someone other than their partner. Eighty percent of women do too! So where is the line? Infidelity is a far more complex psychological matter than just someone straying because they aren’t happy in their relationship. Regardless of your gender, sexual orientation, level of commitment, or type of affair, you will need help if you want to help your partner and yourself. It’s not going to be easy, nor should it be. But for anyone who is genuinely sorry and prepared to make the effort, nothing is impossible!

Story
With narcissistic tactics like gaslighting, love bombing, isolation, neglect, exploitation, passive aggression, manipulation, emotional abuse and others being dished out 24/7 with complete lack of empathy, having any ounce of self-esteem and confidence left when you have a narcissist in your life is nearly impossible. But it is not your fault so don’t feel bad about your situation; narcissists pre-select the people they dish their covert tactics on and groom their victims without their knowledge. But this doesn’t mean you can’t do anything about your situation.

Story
To grow in recovery, we must grow up emotionally. This means getting honest with ourselves and facing up to the self-defeating thoughts and actions that put our sobriety at risk. Although there are as many ways to mess up recovery as there are alcoholics and addicts, some general themes exist, which include: confusing self-concern with selfishness; not making amends; using the program to try to become perfect; not getting help for relationship troubles; and believing that life should be easy. Allen Berger explores the 12 most commonly confronted beliefs and attitudes that can sabotage recovery.

This is a book about men. Not all men, just emotionally unhealthy men. The ones who make you question, "Is it him or is it me? Am I making too big a deal out of this? I try to tell him how I feel, but he says I'm overreacting or needy or it's all my fault". Relationships are hard work, but how hard should they be? When do you know you are struggling too hard to make a relationship succeed?

Evans also helps you determine if your abuser really has changed—or if he’s merely creating the illusion of change. And if he hasn’t changed, Evans helps you decide whether it’s time to leave the relationship—and what to do when it is.

Story
Bonds That Make Us Free is a groundbreaking book that suggests the remedy for our troubling emotions by addressing their root causes. You'll learn how, in ways we scarcely suspect, we are responsible for feelings like anger, envy, and insecurity that we have blamed on others. Even though we fear to admit this, it is good news. If we produce these emotions, it falls within our power to stop them. But we have to understand our part in them far better than we do, and that is what this remarkable book teaches.
