About this listen

The gripping third book in the internationally acclaimed series by New York Times bestselling author Robert Dugoni.

Detective Tracy Crosswhite has a skill, and a soft spot, for tackling unsolved crimes. Having lost her own sister to murder at a young age, Tracy has dedicated her career to bringing justice and closure to the families and friends of victims of crime.

So when Jenny, a former police academy classmate and protégé, asks Tracy to help solve a cold case that involves the suspicious suicide of a Native American high school girl forty years earlier, Tracy agrees. Following up on evidence Jenny’s detective father collected when he was the investigating deputy, Tracy probes one small town’s memory and finds dark, well-concealed secrets hidden within the community’s fabric. Can Tracy uphold the promise she’s made to the dead girl’s family and deliver the truth of what happened to their daughter? Or will she become the next victim?

I really enjoy this series. Narrator is good and the story is different from most mystery books.

Very Appealing

First, the performer did a great job so this is not a criticism but would suggest she find out how locals in the PNW pronounce city and river names. Hearing Yakima and the Rogue River incorrectly pronounced took away from the story a bit.

Small Comment

Having read "My sister's grave" and "Her final breath " this was my 3rd book in the series. Each book was equally exciting. What a talent Robert Dugoni is! The dialogue between characters seems so real. Emily Sutton-Smith is an excellent narrator.

Love the Tracy Crosswhite series

Where does In the Clearing rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Another great Tracy Crosswhite novel. This time she is looking into 2 different cases. One a domestic violence murder. Who killed Tim? His estranged wife or their son? The other, a 40 year old cold case. of a high school girl. It was classified as a suicide, but was it really? The sheriff never believed it. Maybe Tracy can help them.

As usual, Robert Dugoni has written a suspenseful thriller. It is, of course, well-written. The characters are well defined, ones that you can identify with, like real people.

I loved this book, along with the first 2 Tracy Crosswhite books. I am looking forward to the next one!

Another great Tracy Crosswhite book!

Enjoyed as usual, the performance is just pure pleasure, the story is fast paced, at some point I realized I feel sorry for the protagonists and that means it was written creating multilevel personalities, complex and very humanely imperfect.

As usual, great!

Again Robert keeps me on the edge of my seat, I didn’t want to stop listening.
This is the 3rd book in his series and I am looking forward to the next one. The heroine Tracy is a strong female lead. Maybe a bit to perfect but I really am enjoying these books.
When listening to books for entertainment, it is the ones that are exciting and keep me thinking that I want to read. This series is that to a tee.

Loved it

I have come to enjoy the Tracy Crosswhite series very much. I didn't like this book as much as the previous two books, but it was still great! Robert Dugoni still does a great job with unexpected twists and turns in the book.

A great addition to the series
