About this listen

An insidious threat endangers Jace's quest for the Empyrean Flame and the very existence of the School of Swords and Serpents!

With his plan to rebuild the Grand Design underway, Jace can't wait to get back to school and continue his pursuit for the next level of advancement. But when the Shadow Phoenixes are threatened with annihilation, Jace will have to put his studies second to his new responsibilities as clan Elder.

With rival clans and internal pressures threatening to tear his clan apart, Jace learns that becoming a leader may be the hardest challenge he's ever faced. And when Maps shows up with a dire warning that his time to complete the quest is drawing to a close, the young Elder finds himself in a race against time to stop the Grand Design from completely unraveling.

Infinite Core is the fifth book in the best-selling School of Swords and Serpents series, a tale of wuxia adventure, cultivation mastery, and lurking threats.

Enjoyable listen!

I would have preferred if the author had moved on from the "I'm forcing my friends to save the world" theme. The MC did not cause any of the larger problems, though his actions may have brought things to a head. It doesn't make sense that people like Eric would consider bowing out if failure meant the end of the world or at least a degradation of the current civilization. I also feel like it doesn't make sense to ignore your resources, such as having your friends help you research things. Also, it sometimes seems like the MC believes that there are no highly skilled practitioners outside of the school. He doesn't always have to go to the teachers. I'm sure there are freelance people to be had for the right price. Anyway, it was an enjoyable book but could be even better.

I'm looking forward to the next book.

Really good addition to the series. The plot is very engaging. I like the consistent improvement in cultivation that occurs. I’m excited for the next book! The narration is solid in this book and through the series.

Great addition!
