About this listen

There are some places that defy description, so otherworldly that they couldn’t exist on Earth.

Or so Sterling Monedero thinks.

Suddenly transported to a barren salt flat, Sterling must fight for survival once a terrifying creature appears. His journey heats up as he discovers that his teammates have been transported to this unknown land as well, and that all he has to do is seek them out.

Easier said than done....

Taking on super-powered cults, discovering the secrets of ancient petroglyphs and what they have to do with the alien monoliths known as Godwalkers, coming head to head with a pair of devious necromancers, leveling up in preparation for the final showdown; all are challenges Sterling must overcome as he presses south through a canyon-filled desert with a plan so insane it just might work.

Best-selling author Harmon Cooper takes you on an epic thrill ride through desolate landscapes and dystopian urban decay in Cowboy Necromancer, a dark fantasy adventure that will leave you wanting more.

Completely hooked

Thus series grows on you but it's a damn good one. Starts slow in book one but by the 4th or 5th chapter you will be hooked.

Another awesome installment!

This is where the story starts to heat up. Some might not like the pacing of the first book, but in terms of realism, travel, culture, ethnicities, etc., it all makes sense and makes the world more real. Harmon manages to do what many authors fail to do; He grabs your attention in Book 1 and then improves the story, action, and lore in the next book. In Book 2, we find the characters are all scattered to the wind and Sterling has to gather them all up to kick the asses of the God Walkers. There is more shooting, more fanatics, new locations, more loot/charms, some hallucinations, more explosions, and more character history/familial ties. Like any good book, there will be new friends and there will be losses, but all of that just adds to the emotions of the listener and breathes life into a book that’s genre is full of immortal OP characters. SPOILER ALERT: Sterling still doesn’t like to fly. 😆

Side Note: One thing that empresses me so much with this series, is how well Harmon built up the lore of New Mexico. Being military, I’m currently assigned to a base in that state, although I’m from the Detroit area. I’m not sure if he is from here, or has just spent alot of time in the state, but the love of peppers is real here. Don’t get caught in a debate between somebody from NM and Colorado when it comes to hatch green chili. It’s hardcore. The more I explore this state, the more real this book comes to life for me. The other day when I was eating at a restaurant, they asked if I wanted green or red chili. I said, “Christmas” and they didn’t blink an eye. Two years I’ve been forced to choose one or the other… Fantasy novels for the win! All he needs now is some Pinon coffee to cure a tequila hangover. That stuff is good.

The author seems to be really smart when it comes to who he chooses to narrate the various series' he puts out. MacLeod Andrews IS Sterling, the same way Jeff hays is Quantum Hughes, Mikael Naramore is the Pilgrim, or Travis Baldree is Rowan and Toro. Must be one helluva casting budget you got homie. Phenomenal job. Can’t wait for the next one.

Good

I've enjoyed the first two. On to the third. They keep my attention. The narrator is excellent.

A Surprise Gem in the Sea of Modern Fantasy

I loved every word.
I could easily picture it all as it played out. I can see it as a live action movie staring Karl Urban. Barring that, this would work very well as an anime. In fact, an anime may be what's needed to really do this world justice.
I can't wait to hear the 3rd installment. Heck, I don't want these stories to end. Thanks for the ride!

Really Good Book

First of all the MaCloud was the best narrator choice for this series. The revelations that came out in the second book blew my mind, especially towards the end (no spoilers). I definitely recommend this series.

Loving this series.

This book is great. Love the LitRPG genre, and the Good lguy Necromancer angle. The reader's cowboy accent really sets the book off for me!

Loved it

Hamon Cooper kills it again. A lit rpg with a western spin that deserving of a prize. A deeper dive into the main character and the supporting rolls. This story ties up some loose ends and leaves more questions for the next installment. you'll question life, laugh, and maybe even tear up a bit.

Great book

I really enjoyed this series. It reminds me a lot of The Dresden Files, which is one of my favorite series.
