Publisher's summary

Leveling up. Fighting death. Living life to the max.

Zeke and his comrades have only been in Brindolla, their new world, for a short time, but every minute has been amazing. Kicking butt and not bothering to take names, the group has been moving forward in their quest to push back War, the galactic tyrant.

Then the unthinkable happens: Their friend is banished to the darkest Hells. Poof! Gone...just like that.

Now, not only are they on a quest to stop the vanguard of War, but they are going to need to get stronger, faster, and better than ever before if they want to have any hope of busting into the Hells and getting their friend back.

The Brindollan Gods plan to help as much as they can, but will it be enough to allow them to complete a task that even Orpheus in Earth's mythology couldn’t?

With the odds looking bleak and the world they’re trying to defend turning against them, they’re going to need to seek help from unlikely spaces, travel to new places, and break some faces.

well this book wasn't as good as the first one

it has a lot of potential but I believe they're the main character is moving away from what made it a good book he comes across as indecisive and lack of a better term stupid the book itself the way it flows is excellent it is very engaging but I would like to see the main character be more decisive or become more decisive

Full of what I loved from the 1st book

Zeke and the gang continue on their adventure stopping War from infiltrating Brindolla, their new world, and if you liked the 1st book your going to love this one. More butt kicking, new discoveries, and visiting old friends as the gang prepares and searches for the Hells. Zeke and the guys lost a friend to being banished to the Hells, and they don't leave a friend behind. As the group searches for a way into Hell, they still have to contend with War's vanguard of War. They soon find out that even if they find a way into the Hells they are going to have to get stronger, faster, and find more even better loot to have any hope of getting their friend back. The Brindollan Gods are even helping out as much as they can by sending Zeke's roommate as some back up.

Zeke asking Mayba, the Seelie Queen of Ice and Darkness, to be his girlfriend was priceless and very interesting to see develop. Some other favorite moments was seeing the gang develop in their classes, MORE OF THE DWARVES, and the situation around meeting their first dragon. Something I love to see is the crew struggling in their situation while missing friends and family back home. Even how hard it was for them to have a friend missing had the group feeling emotional. The characters are just so very believable and Christopher Johns really has a way for you to feel the characters distress. Again, this series always feels like meeting up with great friends.

B.J. Harrison has gotten a bit better with a specialization in different accents for different races.

To much jumping around

Tough to finish and I do not plan to complete the series. it seemed very fragmented in my honest opinion.

another good book with some progression

this was another entertaining book, and it definitely moved a little smoother than the previous one. although I do look forward to listening to the next one I do have a couple of notes for anyone else looking to read this. the story is good there's a solid progression as the team searches to get more powerful and there is lots of skill games on everybody's part as well as closer calls than are expected. I enjoyed the time with the doors and could only wish that our country works somewhere where all it takes is some convincing words and the opening of some eyes for everyone to realize that they're in the wrong how they've been treating somebody. the characters are always enjoyable.

the main problem that comes with doing audible for a series that has a lot of characters generally in the books as well as large parties is that it is harder for the narrator to distinguish between all of their voices but also giving enough new voices for any upcoming characters and I noticed a number of voices getting mixed up or similar voices overlapping and it wasn't a big deal but was a minor inconvenience. otherwise I will still be picking up the next book I'm very curious to see where Zeke & the gang go and how their classes the grass and get added on

better than the first book

The story is the best part of this series. I like it much better than the character building.

Another great book in the series!

I loved this book, I read it and the other to on kindle, and have purchased all 3 on audible as well. The comradery that the main character show on another, the very interesting way powers play out, and the creative universe that the author developed all captivate me. If any of the grammar syntax in this reviews screwy, it's because I did voice to text :)

not a problem but I do want to bring it up

He has a this thing where he complements a lot of guys looks and he does it pretty often. Yes he does the same for his love interest but she is the only female. I think the MC is bisexual and just doesn't want to admit it or the author is
