About this listen
Learn how to navigate your life with endometriosis in this essential and hopeful guide - including tools and strategies to gain a deeper understanding of your body and manage chronic pain through diet, movement, stress management, and more.
Endometriosis isn’t just about having “painful periods”. It can be a complex, debilitating, and all-encompassing condition that impacts one’s mental health, relationships, and career. Endo affects one in 10 women and girls across the globe, but even after receiving a diagnosis, many are still left in the dark about their condition. In Know Your Endo, Jessica Murnane breaks through the misinformation and gives essential guidance, encouragement, and practical lifestyle tools to help those living with endo have more control and feel better in their bodies.
In this empowering and heartfelt guide, Jessica, who suffers from endo herself, shares a progressive five-week plan focused on learning a new management tool each week. Including sections on diet (with recipes!), movement, products, and personal-care rituals, Know Your Endo eases readers into a new lifestyle and arms them with the information needed to truly understand their condition. Insights and help from endometriosis doctors and experts are woven throughout, as well as first-person accounts of how endo can impact every aspect of your life.
Finally, there’s a resource for all people suffering in silence from this chronic condition offering what they need most: hope.

Story
Approximately one out of every 10 women has endometriosis, an inflammatory disease that causes chronic pain and may lead to infertility. Despite the disease’s prevalence, the average woman may suffer for a decade or more before receiving an accurate diagnosis. Once she does, she’s often given little more than a prescription for pain killers and a referral for the wrong kind of surgery. Beating Endo arms women with what has long been missing - even within the medical community - namely, cutting-edge knowledge of how the disease works and what the endo sufferer can do....

Story
Every day we experience the uncertainty, risks, and emotional exposure that define what it means to be vulnerable or to dare greatly. Based on 12 years of pioneering research, Dr. Brené Brown dispels the cultural myth that vulnerability is weakness and argues that it is, in truth, our most accurate measure of courage. Brown explains how vulnerability is both the core of difficult emotions like fear, grief, and disappointment, and the birthplace of love, belonging, joy, empathy, innovation, and creativity.

This book is written at a level that everyone with ties to this disease can relate to and understand, but it is also for doctors with good intentions who lack the knowledge of how to diagnose or treat it.

Story
Endometriosis is a physically and mentally debilitating disease that has tortured women for centuries. Symptoms of heavy periods and excruciating pain most often begin in middle school or high school, yet doctors take an average of 12 years to diagnose it in a patient. As a result, these undiagnosed and misdiagnosed women suffer into at least their mid-20s or early 30s, repeatedly told that the pain is in their minds, that it’s simply part of becoming a woman, or that it’s caused by some other disease or condition. That nonsense must stop, and it must stop now!

Story
What would it be like to live in a well-rested world? Far too many of us have claimed productivity as the cornerstone of success. Brainwashed by capitalism, we subject our bodies and minds to work at an unrealistic, damaging, and machine‑level pace—feeding into the same engine that enslaved millions into brutal labor for its own relentless benefit. In Rest Is Resistance, Tricia Hersey, aka the Nap Bishop, casts an illuminating light on our troubled relationship with rest and how to imagine and dream our way to a future where rest is exalted.

While hormonal shifts are natural throughout women’s lives, too many experience distressing period symptoms, struggle daily with PCOS, endometriosis, a fertility challenge, pain, low sex drive, sleep problems, acne, bloating, hot flashes, and more - all due to hormone-related problems. And too many are unable to get the answers they’re really seeking from their doctors.

The gender gap reaches beyond the workplace: it also impacts medical diagnoses! While 13% of boys are diagnosed with ADHD, only 4.2% of girls are, and it’s not because girls don’t have it: it’s because we are misdiagnosed! To make matters worse, the older we get, the harder it is for medical professionals to diagnose and treat us properly. Often the only time a medical professional will notice it is if we have children who are diagnosed. By then, you’re used to living in the chaos of your home and brain!

For more than 29 years, I was an extremely picky eater. My parents were told, year after year, I would just “grow out of it”. Except, I didn’t. I remember when I was little, sitting at the kitchen table with my Mom, who would say, “Please just take one little bite!” I so badly wanted to, but I just couldn’t, and both of us wound up so frustrated and upset.

I wish the author would get out of her own way.
Sadly, I couldn’t finish this. The author (in both audio and print formats) chafed me so much I couldn’t get to the information which I desperately wanted! The tone was trying to be upbeat and encouraging but ended up being heavy handed, mushy and victimized. In some places even mean-spirited like the recommended responses if someone asks when you are due (when bloating occurs) “Nah babies are gross.” Can you be a little more charitable? Someone has asked me this when I was not pregnant, and they were embarrassed enough for both of us when I kindly informed them that no, I was just swollen. I know this book had good information in it, but I recommend you go straight to her sources. Aviva Romm, Cal Newport etc… They have better editors.
