Publisher's summary
Attorney Nate Shepherd is back, representing a thief accused of murder. Was it a burglary gone wrong? Or is his client caught in a larger plot? A riveting new legal thriller by Michael Stagg.
Nate Shepherd can’t tell if his client is lying.
The police say Nate’s client beat a young reporter to death during a break-in. They have the evidence to prove it, from the stolen goods right down to the bloody aluminum bat. Nate’s client swears he didn’t kill the man. So, helped by a new associate and old friends, Nate dives into the overwhelming evidence in search of a defense. With each new lead, Nate’s suspicions grow that there might be more to this crime.
As evidence disappears and people vanish, Nate is forced into a high-stakes trial to prove that his client is no killer. With time running out, Nate discovers that far more than his client’s freedom could be at risk.

Good listen
This was a good listen just like the other 5 . I personally still think the first book was the best.

Excxellent original story.
Overall a really excxellent book; as an attorney I especially liked the courtroom scenes which were, overall, accurate and realistic. I only had one disappointment; at the end Nate acted cowardly -- it might have been good for the story and realisticc, it's just that I would have expected more of this fictional character who is so steadfast in representing clients. An easy 5* all the way around.

This series just keeps getting better
This installment might be my favorite in the series. Murder situation very interesting, new lady in Nate's life, new member of the staff and charcter very likeable., Also for the first time, I wasn't sure of the outcome of the trial.

Michael Staggs Does it Again!
Phenomenal! Waiting patiently for #7 “Swift Judgement.” PLEASE continue to write about these well-developed characters that I feel like I know and are so relatable. All of the Michigan references are great! Keep writing and I’ll keep buying!
