About this listen

You can learn to handle the onslaught of internal and external pressures

Does anxiety get in the way of your ability to be an effective leader? Is your inability to notice when you and those around you are anxious keeping you "stuck" in chronic unhealthy patterns? In Managing Leadership Anxiety, pastor and spiritual growth expert Steve Cuss offers powerful tools to help you move from being managed by anxiety to managing anxiety.

You'll develop the capacity to notice your anxiety and your group's anxiety. You will increase your sensitivity to the way groups develop systemic anxiety that keeps them trapped. Your personal self-awareness will increase as you learn how self gets in the way of identifying and addressing issues.

Managing Leadership Anxiety offers valuable principles to those who are hungry to understand the source of the anxiety in themselves and in the people with whom they relate. Listeners will be empowered to take back control of their lives and lead in mature and vibrant ways.

One of the best books on leadership I have ever read. Steve’s wisdom is from real, lived out experience and so I feel much empathy and compassion so there is much safety in seeing my failures and places in need of growth. The practical advice and real life examples are so helpful too.

Compassionate and Practical

As a devotee of Family and Systems therapy (Bowen Theory "BT" ) for almost 30 years, I stumbled onto this by way of my daughter and son in law attending church where the author is lead pastor. As an occasional visitor to their assemblies, I certainly connected with his preaching so I wasn't "shocked" when I discovered that he too, cut his professional teeth while training under a 1st generation Bowen protege. I have read all of Bowen's writings and Ed Friedman's books, participated in many therapy groups applying their principles and methods, and have been delivered from numerous fatal mistakes in decisions and relationships at home, professional life, and as a church leader through the years from that training. Over the past twenty years many BT disciples have written and published books reviewing and restating BT through their own language and experience. This book is better than most I have read (IMO). It is more systematic and uses good examples of the approach applied in real life situations. Plus the author is transparent with his own successes and mistakes and shares his own personal growth honestly and humbly. Anyone can pick up this book and benefit from it personally or as a leader (parent/executive/church leader) without having to learn the esoteric vocabulary of Bowen/Friedman which is not the case for many other BT books out there.
