About this listen

One fateful encounter upends the lives of two women in this tense domestic thriller, a modern spin on Alfred Hitchcock’s Strangers On A Train that flips the script on race and gender politics.

“I’m a big believer that women should help each other, Tasha,” she says. “Don’t you think?”

Tasha Jenkins has finally found the courage to leave her abusive husband. Taking her teenage son with her, Tasha checks into a hotel the night before their flight out of D.C. and out of Kordell Jenkins’s life forever. But escaping isn’t so easy, and Tasha soon finds herself driving back to her own personal hell. As she is leaving, a white woman pounds on her car window, begging to be let in. Behind the woman, an angry man is in pursuit. Tasha makes a split-second decision that will alter the course of her life: she lets her in and takes off.

Tasha and Madison Gingell may have very different everyday realities, but what they have in common is marriages they need out of. The two women want to help each other, but they have very different ideas of what that means . . .

They are on a collision course that will end in the case files of the D.C. MPD homicide unit. Unraveling the truth of what really happened may be impossible—and futile. Because what has the truth ever done for women like Tasha and Madison?

Critic reviews

"Not So Perfect Strangers is a gripping, twisted ride! You think you know what’s happening, but you don’t. Chock full of surprises, this dark story unfolds perfectly right up to the last page."
-Samantha Downing, #1 International Bestselling author of For Your Own Good.

"I was delighted to be caught in the crosshairs of this deliciously devious cat-and-mouse game between two strikingly different, but equally magnetic women as they duked it out for justice, revenge, love, and power. This one keeps the reader guessing until the very end." --Chandler Baker, New York Times bestselling author of The Husbands

Psycho

I love it! Built up trauma that makes you mentally ill to the point of plotting murder, manipulation and power control. The love of a mother who’s willing to do whatever it is to protect them.

Great book with lots of plot twists… HORRIBLE NARRATION

I truly feel like I would’ve enjoyed this book so much more if I’d read it. The plot is amazing so please don’t let the horrible, montone, bad accent narration deter you. If you’re a kindle person definitely get the book and read at your leisure. If you’re an audible person, suck it up. The plot is definitely worth it!

Ok story

Ok book. Poorly produced and the narration was annoying, I think I would have enjoyed it better if I actually read it.

quite a good thriller. really good at explaining

this story almost seems unbelievable, but I can see where desperation and cruelty can haunt a person to rationalize everything

Some value here, but not much

A pretty tawdry tale with not much to recommend itself, but the depiction of the black woman trying to raise her son in the midst of an abusive relationship is well done and the reader narrating her story is strong.

SPOILER ALERT

Omg this book was soo good… It’s crazy because I really found myself growing very fond of Madison. This book at the most despicable plot twists I’ve EVER seen in my life. This book was soo beautifully written and I never saw the ending coming. For the first time in a long time I can genuinely say even though Maddie was a fave of mine, I LOVED the way this books ended😭

Just okay

The book had potential, but it came up short. The last hour and half was boring, drawn out, and predictable. It’s an okay listen if you have nothing else to listen to, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to listen to this

Good story.

I liked the story. The narrator was awful. I wasn't on the edge of my seat, but the chapters kept my focus.
