About this listen
When the Divine needs an intervention...
As champion of the Goddess of Fate, Marluck had it all: fame, power, status—until his divine favor was stripped while fighting a freakish fledgling god-beast. He somehow became an Oathbreaker: a reviled fallen paladin, scorned by all. A sentence from which most never recover.
Bereft of his powers and cast down lower than the cobbles, Marluck stumbles across the Oathbreakers Guild, where other ex-holy warriors like himself meet weekly and share their woes amid cheap ale.
It helps, for a time. But when a stranger in the group whispers of four holy sites where other Oathbreakers found favor once more, Marluck is helpless to resist the siren song of renewed succor within the fold of his goddess. Together with three eccentric paladins of wildly different faiths—each with demons of their own—Marluck sets out on a do-or-die quest to find favor once more.
A hilarious, knockout fantasy from the author of The Dragon’s Banker.

Story
Pete is a simple man who enjoys a good drink amongst good friends. Not too much to ask, right? Now, he's trapped in a fantasy world far from home, stuck underground and inside the body of a smelly dwarf with fantastic facial hair. The worst part? The swill that the dwarves are falling all over themselves to drink. It's flat, it's watery, and it has the alcohol content of a rancid coconut. Can Pete save the dwarves from their own sour fate, or will he be forever doomed to plink his pickaxe away in hopes that he hits the motherlode?

Hiral is the Everfail, the weakest person on the flying island of Fallen Reach. He trains harder than any warrior. Studies longer than any scholar. But all his people are born with magic powered by the sun, flowing through tattoos on their bodies. Despite having enormous energy within, Hiral is the only one who can’t channel it; his hard work is worth nothing. Until it isn’t. In a moment of danger, Hiral unlocks an achievement with a special instruction: Access a Dungeon to receive a Class-Specific Reward.

Story
A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible. In a flash, every human-erected construction on Earth - from Buckingham Palace to the tiniest of sheds - collapses in a heap, sinking into the ground. The buildings and all the people inside have all been atomized and transformed into the dungeon: an 18-level labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and loot.

Jin Rou wanted to be a cultivator. A man powerful enough to defy the heavens. A master of martial arts. A lord of spiritual power. Unfortunately for him, he died, and now I’m stuck in his body. Arrogant Masters? Heavenly Tribulations? All that violence and bloodshed? Yeah, no thanks. I’m getting out of here. Farm life sounds pretty great. Tilling a field by hand is fun when you’ve got the strength of ten men—though maybe I shouldn’t have fed those Spirit Herbs to my pet rooster.

Where did they find this guy???
I listen to a lot of books, and this is my first review ever. That's how inspired I was and how much I freakin LOVED this book. And yeah for sure the writing is fantastic, but I'm here specifically for the NARRATION.
First off, I'm generally not a fan of American narrators. They just don't get UK accents down in a way that sounds authentic / fun / not overdone. Or the acting is just kinda meh. But Mark Garkusha?? He is a horse of a diferent stripe, my friends. Not only does he completely capture the extremely entertaining nuances of Marluck, but he breathes life into every other character he voices. I found myself genuinely chuckling at the hilarious conversations between Marluck and the other members of the Oathbreakers Guild. Top marks go to my particular favorite voices of the Grumke the dwarf, Mort the elf, and hands down best character in the book - Ram.
I was thoroughly entertained from start to finish of this outstanding journey. If nothing else, come for the top tier talent of Garkusha, stay for the hilarious writing and wild adventure.

Loved every minute
First. I adore this cover. Warren has truly captured the story and characters.
This was my first time experiencing Scott Warren’s writing and it won’t be my last. Oathbreakers Anonymous was delightful, hilarious, and immersive full of action, adventure, twists, and turns. While this is entirely from Marluck’s perspective there are numerous secondary and tertiary characters that I also got to know and love. This is one of those books that’s hard to describe without spoiling anything. It felt like the perfect amalgamation between the epic quests and adventures of Lord of the Rings with the humor and characters of The Princess Bride.
Marluck turns from aimless to desiring redemption. He finds friends, and foes, in the unlikeliest of places and from a variety of backgrounds and species. Ultimately learning that his epic quest is about more than he ever imagined.
This is a full and complete story with no cliffhangers. Even a charming epilogue. However Warren has definitely left the door open for Marluck to have more adventures in the future.
Narration:
Mark Garkusha’s narration was like listening to a flawless full cast performance. Characters brought to life with charmingly unique yet consistent voices, accents, and personalities. He’s wonderful at evoking the emotion of Warren’s writing. Loved every minute of this.
While I own the ebook, I did receive a copy of the Audiobook from the narrator and am leaving an honest review.

Strap yourselves in, pretty babies; this is along one!
When I first delved into the audiobook "Oathbreakers Anonymous" by Scott Warren, I had no idea what a delightful and enchanting journey I was embarking on. As a newcomer to Warren's writing, I was pleasantly surprised and thoroughly captivated by the world he crafted and the characters that inhabited it. "Oathbreakers Anonymous" is a tale of redemption, camaraderie, and self-discovery, woven with threads of humor and fantasy that make it a truly unforgettable experience.
The story revolves around Marluck, a once-mighty paladin and champion of the Goddess of Fate who, due to a fateful battle with a god-beast, finds himself stripped of his divine favor and labeled an Oathbreaker. The fall from grace is swift and harsh, leaving Marluck aimless and desiring redemption. This is where the magic of Warren's storytelling begins.
Marluck's transformation from a renowned hero to a fallen paladin is both poignant and relatable. Warren's skillful narration, brought to life by the talented Mark Garkusha, allows us to feel Marluck's struggles, his desperation, and his determination to reclaim what he lost. The audiobook's immersive quality draws you into Marluck's world, making his journey your own.
But what truly sets "Oathbreakers Anonymous" apart is the ensemble of characters that accompany Marluck on his quest for redemption. While the story is primarily from Marluck's perspective, Warren introduces a cast of secondary and tertiary characters who are equally compelling and lovable. Each character brings their unique quirks and struggles to the table, adding depth and authenticity to the story.
What makes this book a true gem is its ability to seamlessly blend elements of epic fantasy quests, like those found in "The Lord of the Rings," with the humor and character dynamics reminiscent of "The Princess Bride." It's a perfect amalgamation of the two, creating a narrative that keeps you hooked from start to finish.
Scott Warren's writing reveals his deep and abiding love for the fantasy genre, especially Dungeons & Dragons. His world-building is rich and imaginative, and his characters are finely crafted with a perfect balance of absurdity, heart, and self-aware winks to the audience. If you're a fan of Terry Pratchett's Discworld series or have a penchant for all things nerdy and fantastical, "Oathbreakers Anonymous" is a must-read.
Mark Garkusha's narration is a perfect match for Warren's style. He brings Marluck and the other characters to life with pitch-perfect portrayals, making each character feel distinct and memorable. Even Ram the sheep, a delightful and unexpected character, is given depth and emotion through Garkusha's talent.
While "Oathbreakers Anonymous" is a complete and satisfying story with no cliffhangers, Warren leaves the door open for Marluck to embark on more adventures in the future. This audiobook is a testament to the power of storytelling, the resilience of the human spirit, and the enduring bonds of friendship.
"Oathbreakers Anonymous" is a fantasy masterpiece that combines humor, heart, and adventure in a way that will leave you longing for more. Redemption is not the only way
This was an interesting book. A man lost his God's favor and met up with others like him in something like AA, and he finds hope that he might have a chance to get his power back, and has a group of other fallen paladins to go with him. I really enjoyed it and didn't want to put it down. The only problem I had with it was I was read/listening to it, and the chapter numbers did not always match.

Great time
Full disclosure, I received a review copy for free.
I really enjoyed this one. Story was good. It was a little predictable but managed to throw in little twists here and there. Lots of sci-fi and fantasy references and lots of comedy. Overall it was a fun book and good story. This is straight up fantasy, orcs, elves, dwarves, and magic. You follow a group of fallen paladins on a more misadventure than quest for redemption. Lots of fun to listen to. The villians are more evil game show host than evil bad guy number 1 and the author does a good job of making them not be a typical forgettable bad guy. I've read TONS of books and the characters in this are really well done. Lots of character development but at times it seemed a little rushed.
Narrator was great. Lots of voices and good accents. He did a good job of bringing the characters to life. There were some very minor things at the end that were a little distracting (swallowing, pauses, etc) but this is an editing issue.
Take away: Worth a credit for sure. Not what you expect from a typical fantasy book. No easily guessed plot points. Great characters and great villians. Looking foward to a second installment.
