About this listen

Bloodwraith was a villain who hated adventurers until he found himself transferred into the body of one. Trapped without his magic, he discovered that alien beings were using his reality as a game...and he had just become a player. Teaming up with a glitched NPC and other adventurers, he has no choice but to learn the truth about himself and his world.

Finally free of obligations, Bloodwraith can recover his necromancy and strike back against the beings controlling his world. Little does he know that one of them is now hunting for him: His old adventurer nemesis is still alive in his old body. Not only does the adventurer plan to get his body back, he's not going to play fair to get it.

Journeying to a new city, with new rivals and potential allies, Bloodwraith will be challenged in many ways. But in the end, he will be facing his past life, and this time he will need to decide what it is he really wants.

New Narrator but good continuation of story

I am still enjoying the story. The new natrator was quite a change, though I am aware it occurred out of necessity, and I am happy the author went with it as I don't have the time to READ the series and I would like to finish it.

At first I was not sure about the new guy but he seemed to relax as the story went on and by the end, I decided it was a good choice, and perhaps fortuitous, as I am note sure the first guy could have pulled off Rygar.

So the story picks up not long after the original one ended. Rygar, the original player, is back in Bloodwraiths old body and he is wants his old Rygar body back...adventure ensues.

I liked the story though am a little concered all of Bloodwraiths allies are women, all of them. I mean there was the option to have a little balance and make one not female but the author choose otherwise. I kept fearing Harem and the author even makes that joke but it still seemed off to me a bit. As a woman myself seeing hollywood ruin series I love with pandering I am a bit twitchy on the subject.

The story is still intersting, though I am still not sure if this is 100% video game or indeed invasion of another world. They seem to introduce somthing that would confirm actual other world but I am not clear on how that would even work and there is always the possiblity of a huge simulated universe. Whatever the author is creating, I want to see more. The hook at the end was pretty good too.

If you like lighter LITRPGs and definitely if you liked the first book I do recommend. Do not get caught up on change of narrators, the first guy had a great voice but sometimes changes cannot be helped and the other guy gets better as the story goes on. The real Rygars voice is annoyung, but he is an annoyong character so it works. I am looking forward to next book in this series.

Return of the King

I'm so happy to see this book series continue! I loved New Game Minus, and the sequel surpasses it. Izzy is my favorite character so far in the whole series.

Matt Weight does a great job stepping in as a new narrator, and improves on several of the voices. I can't wait to listen to more books by him!

Glad this series is back on Audible

This series is a very good one as it turns the LitRPG genre on its head. I’m glad this is back on Audible and I believe Matt Weight did an outstanding job trying to keep the original VA’s character voices consistent.

Sometimes it, admittedly, comes out a little flat, but this seems more due to having to keep consistent to a prior VA’s work rather than a complete lack on his part. If Matt Weight had been given the task to begin, then it’s definitely possible that the performance would have been even better.

I’m looking forward to the next book!

Happy to see this series continue!

Story picks up directly after the first book, and if you enjoyed that one, then this is more of the same. A new city, some new (excellent) companions and more powers with Bloodwraith getting back to his roots so to speak.

The new narrator had some sizable shoes to fill, but overall did very well. A slight change in pace, but the tone and voices feel similar enough that I basically forgot about it after the first chapter.

The narrator does two voices: boring and sleepy.

A review, and message to the author. The narration of this book is unbearable. If you are looking for the sequel three years later, don't do it to yourself. Sarah Lin, New Game Miinus was the first book you put on Audible. I immediately bookmarked your page, and have checked it at least once a week since you did so. That's 3 years. I tried every one of your book series due to enjoying that first book. I didn't really like them, but I listened to most of them. I really was just waiting for this book in particular. I cannot express how sad I am that you found Travis Baldree and yet somehow for this book just decided, "Ah screw it, give it to whoever charges the least". This Narrator is unbelievably bad, and you had to know that. I have an eye disease and won't get to see how New Game Minus turned out, because it is literally putting me to sleep. The only reason it isn't being refunded is I've started using it as a way to fall asleep when sleep aids don't help. I'm dead serious. Please re-release this book with a Narrator who can at least do 2 voices.
