Publisher's summary

They're bigger and smarter.

Deep in the sewers of New York City, the rat population is growing. Dr. Randolph Finch is determined to break the cycle. His new rodenticide, Degenesis, doesn’t kill rats. It sterilizes them from reproducing. But nothing adapts faster than a New York rat....

City exterminators and soon-to-be divorced Chris and Benita Jackson think they know how these rats think. They know how rats breed. And they fear that Degenesis has only made these rats stronger. More aggressive. More intelligent. And more ravenous than ever....

After a noticeable surge in rat den activity, the Jacksons witness something strange. Without warning, the rats disappear — only to reassemble in a massive lair beneath Grand Central Station. Millions upon millions of them. Working together. Operating as a hive mind. Feasting on the flesh of the homeless below — and planning their all-out attack on the unsuspecting humans above....

Florida. It's where you go to die.

Welcome to Polo Springs, a sleepy little town on Florida’s Gulf Coast. It’s a great place to live — if you don’t mind the hurricanes. Or the flooding. Or the unusual wildlife....

Maybe it’s the weather. But the whole town is overrun with the little green iguana bastards this year. They’re causing a lot of damage. They’re eating everything in sight. And they’re just the babies....

The mayor wants to address the iguana problem. But when Hurricane Ramona slams the coast, the town has a bigger problem on their hands. Bigger iguanas. Bigger than a double-wide. Unleashed by the storm, this razor-toothed horde of prehistoric predators rises up from the depths — and descends on the town like retirees at an early bird special. Except humans are on the menu. And it’s all you can eat....

What has long, pink fingers and smells like rotting flesh?

It is a slime-covered fungus known for its pinkish red tentacles and pungent odor. It is indigenous to Australia but has spread to North America. Its Latin name is Clathrus Archeri, also known as Octopus Stinkhorn. Most people call it The Devil’s Fingers....

Deep in the woods of Washington, botanist Autumn Winters stumbles onto a field of the luridly colored fungi. Two of her fellow campers make the mistake of touching it. Now it’s growing on them. Fleshy gelatinous pods. Sprouting from their skin. Feeding on their blood....

Autumn watches in horror as her friends are transformed into monstrosities — grotesque, human-fungal hybrids as contagious and deadly as any virus. Autumn knows she must destroy these mutations before they return to civilization. But if there’s one thing that spreads faster than fear, it’s The Devil’s Fingers....

Love the dramatization.

Lively and moved at a good pace. I just couldn’t get into the plots. Could be me with Spring Fever.

Gruesome and awesome at the same time

Great set of stories, if I had to rate them in order I would say 3, 1, 2 in order of greatness

Total mindF#*€!!!!

This book was good! The rats were creepy, I thoroughly enjoyed the iguanas, but the last story?? That thing gave me the heebie-jeebies!!! And then I had the audacity to look up what the fungus look like. Why on earth did I do that?! That story creeped me out so bad. It was just gross but in the good way. I’m so glad it’s over, lol

The Rats! The rats in the walls!

The first “tail” is a gross & wiggly rat-haired rodent-fear provoking shock & creep-out story that’d shine like a dark star amid any classic issue of “Creepy” or “Eerie” magazine.

The next two loose all their enjoyable characters and any interesting loss of disbelief.

One hit, two misses.

A creepy and smart wave of rats 🐀 can make me shudder- and mutter”Hurry up!” at the people in the book.

The next two stories had me not caring about any of the characters, and I never got the essential “EESSH!” reaction to the critters I was supposed to fear.

Good first tale.
Anger that, I urge you to put down the book and look for something good to read.

Ratticus Finch! Too funny, you’re gonna love this book!

Ok, I totally loved the first part of the book with the rats in NYC. Loved the narrator and the accent was great, I know I lived there for years! And totally believable because I have seen the rats the size of cocker spaniels! Then they had to screw the whole thing up by using the iguanas in Florida as “monster/dino sized” during a hurricane and….fizzled fizzled dead! So do I recommend the book, yes the first couple chapters are great. Don’t bother listening to the last chapters because they are completely separate books. It’s too stupid. I was born and raised in FL and I’m pissed about the invasive species problem already but author grows them to dinosaur size and ya lost me. So yeah, it’s a good listen.

Good Stories

.
A series of 3 short stories that are darkly comic and at times folkloric, yet always at their heart entertaining. If you like short stories then there will sure to be something in here for you. Highly enjoyable with a good full cast of narrating.

The rats overrunning new york city and the beginning of the fungus apocalypse

I like the way the devils fingers ended on a cliffhanger I hope they make another part of the devil's fingers to see if the the final man surviver escapes from the cops and puts down the two surviving boy scouts to prevent the apocalypse

Pretty Good

I prefer the other stories, but this batch was OK. The last story was brutal. Worth the purchase if you really like gruesome tales. Performances were excellent as always.

3 Horror Stories

All 3 stories were fun to listen to. They reminded me of the fun 80's horror stories!!!
