Publisher's summary

When an ambitious teenage girl from Earth finds herself in a magical realm, she could be the hero—but she'd prefer to be the villain.

When power-hungry Everly is reborn into a medieval world where elemental magic rules and she receives her elemental servants—the oddly sadistic Eris and the fun-loving Titania—years earlier than one typically would, she knows she's destined for a command of necromantic magic the likes of which her peers can only dream.

Though she's the bastard daughter of a count and a precariously positioned concubine, Everly is determined to be a conqueror, warlord, and queen. She could be the hero of the realm, the person to save everyone, with her protectors—the Silver Lance—and her beautiful mage lover by her side.

But Everly's no hero. She's an aspiring villain, seeking the freedom that comes with doing wrong. And before long, she'll make everyone fear the name of the Empress . . .

The first volume of the hit portal fantasy series—with more than 400,000 views on Royal Road—now available on Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, and Audible!

Evil Protagonist is actually Evil

Genuinely commits to making a villain protagonist a genuinely bad person who does evil things for selfish (often irrational) reasons. Very unique in the characterization of a truly psychotic person on par with the Joker. Everly is compelling because of her charisma and unhinged commitment to her role as a villain. Also uniquely features an American protagonist.

It's good to be The Empress

Fun story. Nice villain to follow. Interesting take on the new world reincarnation trope. A self aware narcissist is a dangerous thing, and this new world is about to learn why.

I hope the ending sticks.

Pretty difficult to write an MC who is aware they sound like a cartoon villian, but with too much narcissism to care and not make them an awful listen. In this instance I think they did an alright job. The author chose to balance the MC by making some of the other characters truly distasteful and using them as foil. It was definitely a book 1 so it will be interesting to see where it goes. There is a lot of potential here, the author avoided a lot of pitfalls by establishing that in the instances where her logic won't hold up, her narcissism patches the holes.

I wasn't a fan of the potential tether, I'm looking forward to a ridiculous story of bombastic villiany, so I hope the ending sticks. Her and Grail even made sure there is a hero with reason to oppose her just for fun.

It was worth the credit.

The only book I re-listened to immediately.

This is a good book with an unique concept, with a character that I kind of get (which I don't know what that says about me). The banter is A+, the cast I like, and I'm excited how we get to point A to B. The smallest issue, which I guess will be an issue for others, is the switching of PoVs. Even if they kind of needed a re-listen to get how the PoVs connected, the sudden switch is a bit jarring. The method works better in words than an audio version. If the next books could make it less jarring, I.E, make it sure we get how this random person connects to how MC faster, this book would be perfect for me.

The lady that narrated this was perfect voice to talk for this book and made it sound great

Lovely Unredimable Monter

Good lighter hearted story of a power fantasy everyone thinks about once. The story shows how insane and crazy it is to live a life with no consequences and no accountability, and goes a good length to show how far the MC must commit to this character to keep herself sane. This story isn’t deep but it’s twisted edgy middle school fun.

Character personalites

Loved the change of theme of the main character being transferred to a different world and then being a hero. Love that the main character chooses her own path. Whether it be saving people or killing people that don’t fit in her narrative. Also love that she isn’t swayed by her servants just because they feel like she should listen to them. But only listens to them when they appease her selfishness

A psychopath with middle school syndrome

I liked the story it was interesting and some parts I didn’t want to stop listening however the narrator had some terrible voices she went through. The main character was perfect and pleasant to listen to but some of the female characters and male characters were just horrendous I honestly thought one of the characters was going to start calling everyone Mr. J cause they tried to sound like Harley Quinn from the animated Batman series. Other then a few whiny voices for male characters it was a great listen
