Publisher's summary

Sariana was a cool, confident business-woman, an outcast from the East determined to regain her rightful status. Gryph was an intense mercenary respected and feared throughout the opulent cities and savage frontiers of the West. But from the moment they met, fate made them one. Was it their destiny to be bound to a powerful force that both captivated and frightened them?

When Sariana and Gryph join forces in a dangerous quest to save their world, their love is tested to its limits - sweeping them into undreamed realms of shimmering, shattering ecstasy.

Science fiction Utopias

At first I didn't think I would like this story, but the syfy part was pretty straight forward. I don't like it when the setting is so different that I can't recognize anything in it. The two settlements that were established roughly seemed like Europe in the East and America in the West (ca. mid to late 1899s). I liked the relationship between, Sariana and Gryph - Sariana was no push over. I was pleasantly surprised.

Throughly enjoyed

This is a lot of fun. It’s one of Jayne’s oldster Sic-Fiction stories but it’s still a favorite with a bossy hero and a smart mouth determined woman. It just fun all round.

No Dust Bunnies? A Beginning of the Shield Guild

This was published in 2009 so it was one of the first books about the Shield Guild and how it came about. There were no dust bunnies yet but it was nice to know that the later books maintain the macho images of the shield guys but gives them some softness. This book was lots of fun to listen to and the brash nature of the heroine gave the shield guy a run for his money but the reader knows that in the end, he will prevail and they will wind up together. That predictability is what makes Jayne Ann Krentz, no matter what pseudonym she uses, books a delight to read. They are gripping with twisting plots but in the end, the boy wins girl. I'll be back to keep reading about the ever changing worlds of the dust bunnies.

Natalie Ross is an excellent narrator.

An Old Favorite

I enjoyed this book very much, especially the second half when the true adventure really got under way. I thought the narrator did an excellent job after listening for a bit and settling into the hero's understated voice. I enjoyed the light English accent of the heroine, it set her apart nicely. I am always a fan of Jayne Ann Krentz, even her older books that feature domineering hero's like this one. I just keep in mind that the book was written in the late 80's, that was the style then, and I go with the flow.

It starts out a little slow. Once they start moving so does the story. lots of fun.

Excellent

I love the story and performance. This is an early work of the author, Jayne Ann Krentz. I highly recommend reading her books under both names.

Really enjoyed the book and the narrator

Narrators are either really good actors or can really mess up the story. This narrator made the story even better. She did an excellent job of reading the personalities out for each character. The book was good to read, it was even better to listen to with this narrator.

I was not disappointed. I have listened to this book several times now and will probably listen to it more. I hope I can find more books read by this narrator, especially books by this author.

Fun paranormal sci-fi erotic suspense

Good narration, clear and smooth with no unsuitable affectations. A few times the emphasis wasn't quite right, but no big deal. Decent story but nothing special, just a smexy beach read with a mild plot twist. Paranormal aspects include telepathy. Gryph and Sariana get a happy ever after, of course. But something bugged me in the final chapter: WHY continue to associate with that one particular shady character?

A charismatic, fun and HAP audiobook

Loved it! Read the original paperback publication of this book by her pen Name Amanda Glass. So enjoyed how the narrator told the story., the interaction of the main characters and the fantastic ending.
