About this listen

B. V. Larson returns to the world of his Audible best-selling Star Force series for the first time in three years with this original, full-cast audio drama.

A new stand-alone space drama by B. V. Larson makes its debut in the wildly popular Star Force series with an extensive and stellar cast. When the Ancients, a mysterious alien race, vanished before Earth's last ice age, they left behind a highway of interconnected rings across the galaxy. Humanity knows how to use the highway, but not how to build any more rings, or alter the connection pattern between them.

Now the Imperial starship Pandora is on a mission to discover and explore new interstellar connection points. On Venus, they meet a rogue robot, Marvin, with a mission of his own to reconnect the rings into a new pattern. The result is pure pandemonium. Everything goes haywire. Grotesque aliens are coming through the ring, overrunning Pandora's base camp.

The good news? The aliens can be killed. The bad news: The aliens keep coming through the ring, and no one knows how to turn off the connection leading directly to their home world. But even if the aliens can be defeated - there’s still Marvin to contend with and his alternate agenda.

Starship Pandora is performed by:

Mark Boyett as Marvin and Gen. Kerr; Marc Vietor as Maj. Drake; Tim Gerard Reynolds as Dr. Blear; Scott Aiello as Capt. Stiles; Natalie Gold as Lt. Hersh; Jamie Jackson as Emperor Crow; Graeme Malcolm as Adm. Newcome.

With additional roles performed by Kevin T. Collins; Lauren Fortgang; Natasha Soudek; Jeena Yi; Gabriel Vaughan; Josh Hurley; Eddy Lee; and B. V. Larson.

Not bad.

some of the dialog was unnatural due to the need to describe the goings-on. I really loved going back into the Starforce Universe again. It is such a rich universe with so much more potential and spin-off ability. Take this audio, edit some of the scene describing dialog and animate this, I think you could have a decent webisode.

It's Okay

I have read some of the early Starforce series books. I think this one can standalone without any difficulty. I was looking for a short book that required no thinking; this one fit the bill perfectly.

The book is well written and is fast paced and very easy to listen to. On the Ship Pandora, I particularly enjoyed the AI and the AI Marvin’s interactions with humans. This was done in the radio drama format with many actors playing parts. It took me a bit to adjust from the usual narrator format. Sort of reminded me of listing to the radio when I was a kid. The book makes a good get-away-from-it all read.

. The book is four hours and thirty-three minutes. Scott Aielo and a group of actors do the drama format.

Oh Marvin...

Marvin is always making the story enjoyable. But no Riggs family, Father or Son is Mia in this story.

Loved it!

I'm fan of the author, and this Audible original is a nice addition to the series. The characters come alive because of the brilliant dialogues, and also because the voice actors do an excellent job. The story, though being short, had the twists and turns you can expect when reading B.V. Larson's books.
Spoiler: I particularly liked that the professor, played by Tim Gerald Reynolds, sounded like someone from the Riyria books, written by Michael Sullivan and also narrated by Tim. It was not only the voice, but the way the prof talked.
If you like the Star force books, I highly recommend this one.

Good story. Some interesting voice acting.

I found this audio book rather enjoyable. It had a good pace and the characters were relatively well written. There were a couple of plot twists and a good ending. As far as the voice acting, I thought there were some questionable choices. For this story to be happening in space and in the far future, certain accents took me out of the story and even made me cringe a bit. While this audio book did not possess me to listen in one sitting, I am glad I did.
