About this listen

The third installment of a cinematic horror-LitRPG series: Die in the story, and you'll be back; break the story, and you're gone for good.

Since the day they unwittingly found themselves in the horror show of Carousel, Riley (the Film Buff), Antoine (the Athlete), Kimberly (the Eye Candy), Camden (the Scholar), and Anna (the Final Girl) have learned the rules of their horror-movie world. They've fought through story after story and come out alive—or at least preserved the storyline enough to come back to life.

But their biggest challenge yet lies ahead. While the vets who've been there longest want to travel to the mountain they believe to be the source of Carousel's power, Riley is more concerned about something else: the murderous man with an axe who follows their every move to ensure they play by the rules. But even knowing the secrets of Carousel can't save them from the real horrors to come . . .

The longer they stay in Carousel, the more Riley and his friends wonder: Who's running the game? Where does it end? And why don't the vets seem to know any more than they do?

The third volume of the hit LitRPG series—with more than three million views on Royal Road—now available on Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, and Audible!

interesting take

I read all the books so far in the series and was surprised at how different it was from the rest of most litRPGs. I liked the longer played out story lines but disappointed that a lot of the book goes back over stats. Glad a lot of holes were filled with this book though.

A true masterpiece in in the LitRPG genre

I can only say the story was gripping and beyond entertaining, a must read. I love all things LitRPG from dungeon-core to dystopia or post apocalypse, but horror-LitRPG has a special place in my heart. Which means I'm usually really tough on reading or listening to them. However the "The Game at Carousel series" has consistently checked off every box of a great story with each release and always leaves you wanting more. If I can make one critique it would be the trope description don't get me wrong I their love explanations, of what each does including the sarcastic horror description. They do however tend to be a bit lengthy though but outside of that the rest books are perfect in writing (thank you Rob M. Lastrel) and also narration is perfect (thank you Adam Sims). Also not to forget that with each book the characters and the story and world are maturing and evolving but still keeping the consistency instead of having each new discovery go off on a tangent they reinforce the solid story foundation that each book has already laid. Thanks you and cant wait for the next one.

Gripping

This is an amazing series I recommend to everyone. While some of the trope descriptions can get a bit tedious the overall story is enthralling. I’m not even into horror movies but this book has such an interesting angle that it’s like a combination of a mystery and sci-fi and fantasy and litRPG all in one. It gave me chills multiple times.

One of the best series in the genre

I'm not really a horror movie fan but I LOVE this series! A fresh take on LitRPG, with a well thought out setting and mechanics. The writing has stayed solid throughout all 3 books and the ending of this book left me ready to pre order the next one!

Where is book 4 and 5!

The first 3 have 100% sank their teeth and I can’t wait for books 4 and 5 to get the audio treatment.
This book sets up the bigger story as a whole and I can’t wait to see where it’s going!

Cant wait for book four.

After binging this series, nothing I wore shocking to me then how under the radar this story is. Yeah, reading off all the skills gets rather tedious to listen too, especially before each movie starts, but that's the only real gripe I have.

This story clearly has been thought out before, which has lead to 3 tightly written books, and a fourth I will struggle to be waiting for.

I honestly do not see why this series is not getting more coverage. It is definitely a cut above the rest in the Litrpg genere.

Great narrator

One of the best narrator performances of any book I’ve read. Absolutely amazing and captivating story, but the narrator makes it that much stronger

The story continues

Through twists and turns the truth is finally beginning to emerge. But in a land of horror like Carousel, what exactly is truth? It’s great, read it.

so good one of my new favorite series

I love the unique premise and world building. The author does a great job fleshing out all of the characters. I would gladly recommend this book/series.

I'm addicted

I need these to come out quicker MY GOD. So good, so eerie, I thought I would tire of the same cycle but... nope I keep coming back and getting sucked into the story, just like Carousel wants.... Seriously though 10/10 one of my favorite series. Need the next entry asap
