About this listen

Ah, Nyil, with its magic, its monsters, and its petty gods. A divine spat leaves French medic Viv stranded in the middle of an arcane disaster zone crawling with undead horrors. Thankfully, there are strange allies to be found, not least the mysterious interface that helps humans survive in this merciless world.

Viv will have to progress fast to survive this calamity and find civilisation. She will also need a bit of luck. Unless, of course, she becomes the calamity herself. After all, luck is such a fickle thing.

Great story with a fascinating world and fun characters. Amazing job with the narrator, from the evil robot, to having proper French pronunciation.

This is an amazing series, and I finished it in a day. I'm chomping at the bit for the rest of the series to be ready as audiobooks

well produced and a great start to a new series. I just hope it doesn't go the way of A Journey of Black and Red.

I have been enjoying this book on RoyalRoad and this audiobook is an excellent, refined, enjoyable version of this well thought out story.

Excellent start to the saga

Really enjoyed the different voice effects that added to the both the experience and understanding more of the background! I hadn’t thought about how Solfis was translating so much for Viv when I just read it. Awesome stuff on the book and narration!

Great book and narration!

I've been reading and following Calamitous Bob for a long time on Royal Road and through the kindle book releases. Each time, I would look and see that there were no plans for an audiobook adaption, and it made me sad because I thought this series would be incredible if someone took on the project.

I am excited to be proven correct! The multiple narrators do an excellent job of capturing tone and style, with Laurie's constant narration serving as the perfect backbone to the story. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a fun story, with a side of war crimes. I am eagerly awaiting the next audiobook release!

Awesome narration to fit an awesome series

The prologue to the book with its gods and some very Zeus sounding motivations had be worried at first I'd gotten the wrong book, but once chapter 1 began, the story became a non-stop ride of fantastic fiction. The dark world Vivian (Bob) is sent to really keeps the tension turned up just to the right level to keep things exciting without becoming overwhelming or overly dramatic. The characters and interactions are all very well done. The only objection I have is that the second audiobook isn't ready yet!

Great story, great narration.

Narration quality is as excellent as always from SoundBooth Theater.

This book is short, but good. It moves at a brisk pace mixing survival with magical progression and world building. The story sets the foundation for a promising ongoing adventure with multiple story threads already setup. The setting is a mix of high fantasy magic and a crapsack world. The main character is snarky and self reflective, while supporting cast is an interesting mix of golems that “express” empathy and knights that live like hobos.

Witches, Golems, Dragons Oh My!

I felt like I was in store for a harem LitRPG after the first chapter. It set up the isekai but did it in a weird way. I’m glad I kept going on because there is a good story in there and it is not a harem novel. The narration was a highlight though. Great production.

Not a harem novel
