About this listen

Hi there! I'm Magical Girl Crystal Genocide, one of the twelve magical girls, and sworn protectors of Earth! We were like a superhero squad, but with more sparkles! We fought day and night to keep the baddies at bay and the Earth safe. But, one day, our best wasn't good enough.

So, we huddled up for a superhero brainstorm and decided to pool our powers for this mega, super-duper save-the-day plan. We kinda goofed. Big time. Instead of saving the day, we accidentally wiped out a quarter of the Milky Way.

Now, here I am, Crystal Genocide, in a bit of a pickle. I've landed on this bizarre planet, surrounded by odd monsters and folks who have magic that feels way too familiar. It's like they're copying our style, but not quite getting it right. My mission? Unravel this magic mystery, track down my magical girl gang, and maybe, just maybe, put back together the pieces of our home that we kinda, sorta blew up. Hopefully, I won't accidentally destroy this world too! Wish me luck!

Surprisingly entertaining

I’ve never watched and know nothing about Powerpuff girls but I got Powerpuff girl vibes. I liked the isekai world. It was medieval with a cool magic system. Crystal Genocide was kind of annoying but also kind of cool. Much more complex of a character than meets the eye. The narration was spectacular. Worth a read simply to enjoy the performances.

Another Ravensdagger W

I expected a good and fun overpowered MC story, coming off of Dead Tired. I was NOT disappointed. SBT killed it with the performqnces as always, can’t wait for book 2!

When a fantasy multiverse crosses over with the sailor scouts you get this!

The voice acting felt like the crew pushed beyond the standard and really pulled me in. If you are looking for a unique and creative story, then settle in!

What to expect:
- [ ] A steady pace of story building.
- [ ] A robust and fun cast of characters.
- [ ] Alternating points of view that slowly lay out the building blocks of the first adventure.
- [ ] A fun yet frightening group of overpowered magical girls with outlandish names.
- [ ] Descriptive fighting scenes that paint vivid pictures.

I would have liked to find out more about the experiences that Alice went through during her trip with Mania though this might be explored further later on (hopefully). More about Mania would be great as well.

The music by Justin, Dorrie and the team blended so well for this fantasy themed installment in what’s sure to be a banger saga!

Really good first book

The series has such an interesting concept and I can’t wait to see where it goes. Such an amazing first book to start us off with and as usual the narration and production were the best there is. Really looking forward to what’s next.

Not awkward at all!

I thought I would feel awkward listening to a book about a teenage girl killing stuff and sound way to cute, but I wasn't! The book was a fun ride and had some truly epic moments. I'm already looking forward to the next book.

I wasn't that invested in the side "origin" story, but since it was sprinkled throughout the book, it was OK with a little break here and there. Both stories came together in the end.

It was also good that the book didn't end in a big cliffhanger but was exciting enough to look forward to the next installment. The narration by Soundbooth is excellent as always.

surprised how much I enjoyed it

I usually pick up stories narrated by sbt so I picked this one as well. I started listening to it and immediately thought I made a mistake. was it a sailor moon knockoff in litrpg? I'm happy I kept listening because I truly enjoyed the ridiculousness of it all. you get gems like

"You want to fight God? Isn't that heretical? "

Only if I lose!

this one was worth it

The narration took what could have been slightly annoying characters and made them adorable.

Exactly the mood of a story that I needed. It put my head in a good place

happy go lucky

another happy go lucky adventure. To be honest I like the other series more, but that doesn't mean this one isn't worthwhile.

Isekai Girl w/ Death Crystal Powers

I got this review copy for free but I'm a rather huge Mahou Shoujo fan and listen to a lot of RavensDagger so this would most likely have ended up on my tbr list eventually. Take from that what you will.

Opening was fantastic! Sounded like the intro to an anime with sfx, music, acting, the whole 9 yards. Rest of the book is a traditional audiobook narration with fantastic performance. The "teehee"s Crystal occasionally ends her sentences with really sells the "oopsies, I'm a homicidal little white riding hood" feel. XD

The main issue I've got is that for a magical girl story, Crystal doesn't really do much transformation. She's more like an underestimated teenage... superhero?... who got isekaied into a fantasy world. The story mentioned she's older than she looks but to me, she acts quite a bit younger.

Overall, I loved the world building and plot. It took maybe half the book for the two parts of the story to converge but I enjoyed the journey. Looking forward to picking up the next books when they release <3
