To do list for the post apocalypse:
1. Survive the orcs rampaging through your city.2. Survive the pod trying to steal your mind.3. Pull off the greatest heist of all time.
Eric was as shocked as everyone else when the apocalypse struck, but unlike his mother's movie, there were no chosen heroes destined to fight the beast hordes now overrunning the planet.
Just people trying desperately to survive.
Yet there was a glimmer of hope that humanity could hold on to. A chosen few really could level up in this brave new world, and embrace magic, adventure, and the potential for limitless power!
But the only way to find out if you were one of the lucky few who can level-up and grow stronger was to dare alien vegetative pods. Pods as happy to turn you into topsoil as give you any shot at mastering a System designed to benefit elite invaders, not fragile humans just trying to survive.
But Eric was all about beating the odds!
Along with a handful of new friends who happened to be rogues long before there was any System.
Friends absolutely intent on stealing a priceless fortune that their enemies are eager to claim, right out from under the noses of everyone trying to kill them!
Eric might not be able to save the world, but nothing says he can't make a killing! All he has to do is outmaneuver a thousand orcs, outfox an army of too-clever elves, and escape a war-torn city without getting caught!
Eager for a fast-paced adventure with a survivor determined to get the best of everyone trying to kill him and make a fortune while doing so? Then prepare to be blown away by some of the best voice actors in the business!

The only complaint is the 10s of minutes of whining.... The whining over the haves and have nots. Ok I agree as a have not I can relate but man 10 minute stints of prose of saying the same thing over and over again... by god... just stfu. Life is never fair.... just grit bare and move on.
Oh another small pet peeve is his Simpfest towards Alice and even Sue (he gets laid once and he is crying because this that or the other.... sigh)
Great but could use WAAAAAYYYY less whine...

Then the MC starts to get more and more long winded every time he speaks. Going on what is almost mansplaning explanations to prove he the smartest in the room. It's like is someone ask him if he likes beer, he goes into a huge monolague of what beer he likes , why he likes it . what hops are used and why his beer is superior to other beers when all was asked was does he like beer. It gets bad enough he starts doing it for things they all already know. like how the elite invaders already know how to get good classes.
No duh sherlock they have had the system for ages, your not a genius for figuring out the invaders know the best way to progress when you dont. He keeps harping on telling his friends this over and over as if they dont know and he has discovered some great truth. Rather than a base common sense statement.
Then side character start talking and explaining things to each other for backstory to the reader and MC can overhear but it comes off as movie like exposition dump that no one talks like.
The authors other series are great so no clue why this one has such cringe dialogue and a MC who needs to explain everything to the smallest detail. Such as why one sword is better then another then cites all the historical examples as if every conversation is some sort of research thesis.
Long winded

1. The performance choices (voices) energy was didn’t add total the story and was annoying to me.
2. The author like to reiterate a lot. State something then a few paragraphs later restate it again. This was done throughout the book which just felt like they were trying to get to a word count or something.
3. MC goes through some gnarly trials growing and facing life and death, and emotions ups and downs. Honestly think the author did a good job making his growth feel like it had weight. But then he reverts to a little kid the moment he meet other people. The author implies that he self conscious about scares, I guess fair… kinda. But it would come off scary if you meant a strong dude with a scared up face in a tunnel. Not let’s make fun of him and then he’s all stupid in front of pretty girls when he supposed to be a relatively famous actor.
Some good stuff here author just turned of their brain a few times. But that’s progression fantasy for you.
I can’t do it
