Great philosophy for healthy thinking

I liked the fact that Pilar didn’t give specific exercise and diet tips, but looked at the “Matrix” instead and tried to wake us up.
I loved several points: The key is being the Heightened Awareness and the Learned Helplessness. Also I loved the comparison of Willpower with Willingness- great thought 👍
The Renegade Rituals and the URBs are key for the win, and I’m glad that I have many already dialed in!

Authentic, Informative, Validating & Life-Changing

If you aim to thrive in a world that seems a little backwards and upside down, this is the book for you! I have been a health-seeking rebel most of my life. I have been blessed with “medical” health, but I refuse to accept symptoms like weight gain, sugar cravings, and being less than peaceful each day as being “part of life” or “aging.” I am an avid Experience Life reader, which is the only magazine I read. I found Pilar there and when she left then wrote this book, I couldn’t wait to read it. I loved it so much, I purchased the audio book as soon as it became available. The best part is the fact that she narrated it herself. It adds an authenticity and joy that is undeniable. This may be an audiobook I listen to more than once or I may go back to the hard copy. Regardless, I have already started sharing with friends and I will be gifting copies in the future.

Devious in nature and healthy by choice.

If you’ve been dragging along in this “unhealthy default reality” it’s now time to pause. I’ve been running at a pace where I don’t have the juice to sit and read. loved the book, I've been following the author for years and greatly appreciate her knowledge and support in being healthy in an unhealthy world. it's a good listen and I enjoyed it greatly. There is also a FB group of you're inclined to continue and build community. thank you Pillar!!!

Life Changing

I don’t often read health books because most of them seem so dumb and repetitive. This one was recommended by a family member and I just loved it. Completely original with lots of ideas of ways to improve your quality of life just like her podcast The Living Experiment.

Pilar’s voice and delivery is great too, and the sound quality is top notch. You can tell a lot of work went into the production!

Profoundly Simple

Pilar Gerasimo does a great job of sharing her personal experiences with a lifetime of mind/ body research. I very much enjoyed the book. Learned from it. The message in the book is .... make yourself a priority in my own life.

A different perspective

This book is an eye opener, a reality check for how to really look at our society. It is not a 5 step trendy method book.
I love the random quotes and references to the Matrix.
Narrator voice is easy to listen to and Gerasimo doesn't over use big words and bury you in science terms.

well worth the time, beyond just diet and exercise

Our health is not often on the VERY top of our daily to do list. Often good intentions regarding "healthy" choices for ourselves get tossed out as soon as something more urgent or convenient arises. For many of us, our body and mind are taken for granted until we are unwell, our priority list changes. Pilar does an amazing job expanding the conventional notions of what we can do to take care of ourselves. The scope of The Healthy Deviant is beyond diet and exercise, it addresses many more aspects of what it is to be healthy. The book doesn't push any diet plan, it doesn't tell you what exercises to do. The book has excellent information to consider and if you choose, many ways for you to be more cogniscent of another way to move through this life happier and healthier. I love this book and have purchased it for all of the loved ones in my life. Nothing to lose and lots to gain listening to or better yet, reading this book. Thanks Pilar!

A massage of hope for those that choose to hear!

A mind-blowing, eye-opening deep dive into the reality of our unhealthy society. Spoiler alert, the system is rigged against us, from the food pyramid to Park Avenue advertising to the health care system. The Healthy Deviant is a must-read for anyone wanting to take control of their health and breakthrough the unhealthy paradigms that have become accepted norms today.
