About this listen

Finally, the solution to the number-one reason we don't exercise: time. Everyone has one minute. A decade ago, Martin Gibala was a young researcher in the field of exercise physiology - with little time to exercise. That critical point in his career launched a passion for high-intensity interval training (HIIT), allowing him to stay in shape with just a few minutes of hard effort. It also prompted Gibala to conduct experiments that helped launch the exploding science of ultralow-volume exercise. Now that he's the worldwide guru of the science of time-efficient workouts, Gibala's first book answers the ultimate question: How low can you go?

Gibala's fascinating quest for the answer makes exercise experts of us all. His work demonstrates that very short, intense bursts of exercise may be the most potent form of workout available. Gibala busts myths ("it's only for really fit people"), explains astonishing science ("intensity trumps duration"), lays out time-saving life hacks ("exercise snacking"), and describes the fascinating health-promoting value of HIIT (for preventing and reversing disease). Gibala's latest study found that sedentary people derived the fitness benefits of 150 minutes of traditional endurance training with an interval protocol that involved 80 percent less time and just three minutes of hard exercise per week.

Including the eight best basic interval workouts as well as four micro-workouts customized for individual needs and preferences (you may not quite want to go all out every time), The One-Minute Workout solves the number-one reason we don't exercise: lack of time. Because everyone has one minute.

I had heard about but never read until now

I think most of us have heard about high intensity interval training but I never knew how it became popular I had heard about the one minute workout probably a decade ago and had never taken the time to read the book. Now my only regret was not reading it 10 years ago and applying the principles earlier in my life but today is a new day so here I go

Everything I needed to save time

Game Changing ever since I adopted the practices in Dr. Gibalas book. I’m a medical student with multiple commitments plus 8-10 hours of study a day. I feel better than ever and am getting more exercise than my classmates. Happy Sprinting!

It's True

Try some interval training for yourself and see. I remember doing some of these in high school track, because the coach made us. It's a lot different when you choose it for yourself and understand why it's advantageous!

EXERCISE WITHIN REACH!! FINALLY I CAN DO THIS!

Would you listen to The One-Minute Workout again? Why?

I've read a number of books on fitness and was left feeling that I was never doing enough or doing it right and have felt like giving up. This book was a perfect blend of fitness backed by science. I was left feeling encouraged, confident and excited to move my body! I will listen to this book again whenever I need to get back on track and motivated.

What does Sean Pratt bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I like the way Sean presents the material. He makes it easy and fun to listen to.

Excellent!

as a lifelong exerciser and a chiropractor I absolutely loved this book. it really takes away all excuses for exercise in terms of time, efficiency and efficacy. this book has changed the way that I look at aerobic exercise and conditioning. just plain read or listen to this book! follow the exercise prescription and enjoy a better life spending very little time exercising.

Needed protocol pdf

I basically knew the information here, though this was quite detailed and indeed educational and informative. I had hoped maybe there was general info I wasn’t aware of and would have appreciated a pdf of the protocols ...

Great book’

Great book with solid research to back up Gibala’s assertions. Overall, I loved it.
Pratt’s performance was a little distracting at times.
