When Chris McDougall agreed to take in a donkey from an animal hoarder, he thought it would be no harder than the rest of the adjustments he and his family had made after moving from Philadelphia to the heart of Pennsylvania Amish country. But when he arrived, Sherman was in such bad shape he could barely move, and his hair was coming out in clumps. Chris decided to undertake a radical rehabilitation program designed not only to heal Sherman's body but to heal his mind as well - and so Chris decided to teach Sherman how to run.

Inspired!
I’ve always felt a strong tie to my Swedish heritage and never knew why, until I read Linda Akeson McGurk’s books. This is how I was raised and will raise my boys. This is a must read for parents looking for beginner or advanced ideas to get their kids, and themselves, into nature.

almost meditational
not as good as the first book, and sometimes dry, but definitely motivational, inspirational, and sometimes I found myself drifting into meditation listening to it. great tips for being outdoors that I will definitely use. can't wait to go camping with my girls!

A good reminder we all need to connect with nature.
Highly recommend. Easy listen with practical tips on how to connect with nature on many levels. I enjoyed this book as much as her last!

Good, inspiring book!
It's a really solid book, I enjoyed it quite a lot. I found some portions repetitive, but I learned plenty and liked that the author had practical suggestions for implementing different aspects of friluftsliv in everyday life.

Important!
At times, I found it frustrating that time was being spent on very basic info...but that's part of the point: too many people are now unfamiliar with the outdoors. This provides what's needed for them AND gives some really interesting insights into the different, core approach being taken in Scandinavian societies. Enjoyed it; fast-forwarded through some.
