Publisher's summary

Constance Campbell, the duchess of Kilmaine, once believed that all she needed in life was a duke. But everything unraveled when she realized her perfect husband was a perfect monster. Now broken beyond repair, she hides her misery behind a perfect society mask...even from her childhood friend Alec.

Dr. Alec McGuiness reluctantly finds himself back in Scotland and checking up on the only woman to ever get under his skin, Connie. After she spurned him many years ago, he knows his humble life as a doctor could never be enough for her. But when the duke of Kilmaine is murdered in cold blood, with Connie sleeping right next to him in bed, Alec knows he must protect Connie at all costs from those who would frame her for the duke's murder.

Now on the run, Connie feels a freedom she only ever dreamed about before and an unexpected attraction to the man who is keeping her safe. But even if they can win her freedom and clear her name, could she ever open her heart up to someone again?

Contains mature themes.

Book 3 here and I am still hooked

This novel definitely does not disappoint. I tell you it is like you are right there in the same room and hungry for more. I really hope these characters continues. love how the author started on novel 1 and each main character gets their own story. Captivating.

Like the writing style but..,

This the third book I’ve read by Ms. Michaels and while I like her writing style, the plots are basically the same. I hope she expands on her storylines.

Survival of the Fittest

Plot Summary:
Without giving everything away, Connie is the Duchess of Kilmaine and her husband is a wife beater. She wakes up the night after a ball to find the Duke in bed beside her, dispatched to hell, as he deserved (Goodbye, Earl). Her old childhood crush, Dr. Alec McGinnis, having already been asked to check on Connie (by Sophie, Duchess of Huntington, their mutual childhood friend from the first book in the series), comes to Connie's rescue. That, my friends, is where an epic adventure commenced, indeed...

Review:
To start, I have to take the title to task. There's nothing sinful about this Scot hero, he was just right. In fact, he could've been a little more sinful... so with that, here are my gripes:

I can't lie, the book is long and there were certain parts that I found myself saying, "dammit we heard this already". In my personal opinion, Ms. Michaels needs a new editor. As good as this book was, it could've been soooo much better if the repetition were eliminated or othwrwise minimized, so the author had room for creating a more titillating experience with this hero. Her editor should've told her that...Because, no doubt this hero had potential. Then, to go back to my earlier point, the title is Sinful Scot and as in any profession, recalling the greats or the notable is important to your career... between the title and the hero's name, immediately the Bride by Julie Garwood came to mind. As the hero there was also named Alec and the Alec from Julie G.'s novel was a sinful (delectable, sexy, etc.) Scot through and through. To make my gripe worse, the Bride had a murder mystery in need of solving, too! So, it was hard to see this hero not live up to the hype of the book's title😔😟. I don't have much to say about the heroine, because she played her role, in fact Connie was executed brilliantly.

Now, obviously I still enjoyed the book (the series for that matter). I didn't see the twist coming, which was redeeming. I also loved the interplay between the McGinnis men. I also enjoy second chance romances, which the author also did well.
If the epilogue was an indicator, Ian and Lorelai's story is next. These two obviously have something going on and I can't wait to see how it plays out. Overall. if you've been reading the series, don't miss this installment, but be forewarned - the sin is lacking (with the exception of the Duke's and his brother's actions/inaction).

Wonderful romance/adventure with perfect narrator

Best book in the series so far! I didn't think it would be possible to top the first book, but it absolutely did. Extremely likeable characters and a great adventure and mystery.
Additionally, the narrator is outstanding--I wish she narrated every historical romance out there.

Love the story telling

I’m really enjoying the series. I love the way. The author puts two people together in a strange plot. The narrator is phenomenal.

Better than last story! Mystery & Romance

This book was better than the authors previous book. I enjoyed the mystery but the villain was a bit far fetched especially for that era!
Nonetheless it was an enjoyable listen. Jane Eyre as always is the best narrator!

Took a Little Longer to Get Into

It took me a little while longer to really get invested in the story but once I was fully immersed, I was hooked. I couldn’t stop listening until the end!
