About this listen

The World Health Organization projects the majority of the world's heart attack patients will be Asian Indian within a few years. South Asians, who are predominantly Indians and Pakistanis, make up one-third of the world's population and have the highest prevalence of heart disease and diabetes. Dr. Ronesh Sinha, an internal medicine specialist in Silicon Valley, CA, recipient of the 2013 Silicon Valley Business Journal Health Care hero award, and TEDx speaker, specializes in helping patients of South Asian heritage moderate heart disease risk factors and obesity trends with a comprehensive lifestyle modification approach that has delivered exceptional results. Dr. Sinha's The South Asian Health Solution is the first book to provide an ancestral health-based wellness plan culturally tailored for South Asians. In particular, South Asians living outside of India in countries such as the United States, England, and Canada, show an even greater disease risk due to their immersion into Western dietary and lifestyle habits.

This book covers some of the following topics:

  • South Asian-specific risk factors and how to accurately interpret cholesterol and body composition readings
  • Key lifestyle changes for weight loss and disease prevention
  • Three common cultural myths that lead to unhealthy habits
  • How to effectively manage sleep, stress, and fatigue
  • And specific tips for women, children, and seniors.

Advice for sedentary South Asians

Great health, diet, and lifestyle advice for busy South Asians who spend most of their working careers in front of a computer.

Eye opening !

I am a surgeon and despite having reasonable 'knowledge;' about diet, I think I knew very little. It is a CRIME not to read this book. Ron writes this book almost like a intriguing movie story or compelling drama book. It was gripping right from the first chapter and then it was just not possible to stop reading. I have read it twice already. Lost about 8 lbs in 6 weeks and never felt as good as I feel now
You are an absolute blessing for south asian families
Thank you Dr. Ron

Every south Asian household should own this book.

I’ve listened to the audiobook and I’m now going to order the print book. The content is so valuable and detailed. (I’ve been listening whilst in the gym! Going to actually listen again, as it’s so inspiring.)

I’m of Sri Lankan origin but grew up in the U.K. and now live in France, so have had a lifelong south Asian belly. But this goes way beyond just losing weight. It is a comprehensive Guide to healthy eating; fitness, mental health. For all generations of the family.

Inspiring and highly recommended.

A painful but necessary book for South Asians

A painful but necessary book for South Asians. It’s not common to read a book that speaks directly to a South Asian.

Life changing book

Would you listen to The South Asian Health Solution again? Why?

The book is filled with so many great health advice, everytime I hear it I learn something new.

What other book might you compare The South Asian Health Solution to and why?

I haven't come across a book focused on South Asian health. In general, I would probably compare it with "How not To Die"

What about Ronesh Sinha, MD’s performance did you like?

With his analogy and right amount of theoretical & practical advice; Dr. Sinha presents a very complex material in a simple to understand manner

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Small changes make big difference

Any additional comments?

I wish to see more such books
