I thought the most interesting tidbits were: 1) Caffeine blocks a sleep-inducing molecule called adenasine. 2) We each get two CYP182 genes from our parents that determine how fast we metabolize caffeine. You can be fast-fast or slow-slow or a combo. You don't need to be tested for this gene -- you can pretty much tell what you have, although it's possible to psych yourself. That's why people make the erroneous excuse, "Don't talk with me till I have my coffee"; in reality, coffee doesn't kick into effect in the early morning because your body makes adenasine throughout the day and first thing in the morning your supply is depleted. I found it interesting!

Short but better than expected

Alexandra Hayes has done a good job with the short audio book explaining in concise manner the effects of caffeine on sleep. Personally, I have given up on caffeine altogether from Jan 2020 and no longer experience the caffeine jitters or the caffeine effects on sleep. This is pretty useful quick reference audio book for anyone trying to fix one's sleep. Well narrated by Matthew Kwiecinski.
