Written with wisdom, warmth, and clarity, this inspirational and practical handbook offers tools for overcoming problems and enjoying more fulfilling lives. Judy Tatelbaum contends that while hurt is inevitable in life, suffering is not. We cannot control our circumstances and tragedies, but we can choose how much we suffer over them. The author suggests "We can use powerful experiences like losses, illness, hardship, and disappointment as stepping stones to our own growth."

Editorial reviews
Judy Tatelbaum is a psychotherapist and author who has made a career out of helping people heal. In this audiobook, performed by the acclaimed narrator Cassandra Campbell, Tatelbaum guides listeners back from the brink of their life crises, whether they’re recently divorced, bereaved, or prone to self-destruction.
Campbell’s warmth coaxes listeners into a state of openness and comfort, much like the voice of a good therapist. She has performed more than 100 audiobooks and has won three Best Voice awards. In this performance she leads listeners away from regret and toward self-acceptance, forgiveness, and ultimately, to peace.

If you're done with feeling sorry for yourself and you're done mourning what could have been or should have been or whatever and are ready to ACTUALLY MOVE ON, then this book can show you how.
But if you're still trapped in the thinking that the amount of your suffering somehow proves how much you loved a person, then this book will be much harder for you to hear, grasp and really accept. This book shows you that you can choose how you grieve and for how long and that you can (and should) live a happy life as soon as you've finished grieving. And yes, you CAN finish grieving.
Narrator was OK. Distracting pronunciations sometimes, but decent.
