About this listen

Are you really living before you die?

Forget the idea that death is morbid, and start using it as your greatest motivation to live your best life while you’re still alive. Whether your dream is to quit your job, travel the world, be more present with your children or partner, or just really enjoy your life, remembering that you might die tomorrow is the perspective you need to start really living before you die.

This book offers entertaining stories, engaging studies, and powerful strategies - all to help you face your fear of death and light the fire in your gut to live your most meaningful life.

  • How Kate went from living in fear of death to make it her close friend and best source of clarity.
  • How to hack your fear of death for your benefit using the psychology of mortality awareness.
  • The life prioritization exercise that will help you zero in on how you want to live and give you the motivation to start today.

“This book will make you aware of the beauty of being alive.” (Brad Montague, NYT best-selling author and creator of Kid President)

“An intelligent, funny, and motivating book. I recommend it to my patients and use it for my own growth.“ (Jessica Cooper, PSY. D., trauma psychologist)

Amazing shift in perspective

Clearly written with love and purpose, this book beautifully distills for us the benefits of facing an uncomfortable and inevitable truth, the avoidance of which is the root of so much of our suffering. Great narration, too passionate, lively, and relatable. Thank you Kate for being vulnerable enough to share your story with the world.

Well written, great story-telling and relatable

Listened on audiobook. And while I don't have a fear of death, I figured I could learn some nuggets from this book. I like "self-growth" books in general and this did not disappoint. It made me think about my own experiences and wonder if I am really living the best life I can while I still have the opportunity. Definitely helped me clarify some areas for improvement in my life. I also liked her discussion of what it means to just be surviving, versus being truly alive and really living! There is a huge difference and most people I don't think really "get it". Reminds me of the saying: Every moment of one's existence is growing into more or retreating into less. I hope this book helps people grow into more and make the world a place full of happy and thriving and lively people! Definitely an inspiring book.

Wonderfully narrated, entertaining, and meaningful

Part adventure/travel-log, part inspirational/self help, it is the humor and attitude that sell it best.
