About this listen

After leaving the army, I thought the hardest thing I’d face was the job market.

But then one night, my sister and I saved a beautiful blonde woman being attacked in an alley, and we discovered that magic was real. The supernatural was real.

Monsters are real.

Fortunately, I seem to have abilities that let me kill them easier than normal humans, and getting paid to kill monsters isn’t half bad.

Especially when it's a lot of money.

Disclaimer:

The protagonist has multiple love interests, and there are descriptive romantic scenes.

Such a Disappointment

So I original bought this series on audible here and liked it well enough I went to the authors web page and bought the next two books, and after listening to them I'm left with nothing disappointment. Over the years I've built a lot of tolerance for left leaning politics, but around book 3 when the characters start quoting Das Capital directly, continue to complain about a pseudo government agency only doing exactly what its stated job is I pulled the plug. I can only listen to people complain about how much the government isn't riding into the fix problems quiet evidently individuals are capable of solving themselves as that's the core of the story before I can't handle it anymore. Add to this suddenly everyone's bi, or gay, yeah? Mean i get the fey, that's kind of their mo, but the rest? Add to this the world building is surface level at best, like one layer thick and this causes numerous issues down the line. Like if lichan are so family bound, why have they not claimed territory to keep themselves safe? If Fey are so horrified by mix bloods why aren't they ending Fey that interbreed. If there are so many roaming bands of mercenaries than why haven't we run into any outside the main group? Where does the law enforcement get its money? Where the rulers and leaders of each community? Why aren't mages searching through every child to test for magical talent? And once you start asking those questions the whole thing falls apart.
Then we get into a lack of character development. Outside of "hey lets bang" there's nothing, three books and no one's changed a whisker. Add to this, there's a lot of telling not showing, the action scenes are boring and muddled, the plot is pretty predictable and well, you got a flob of a book series.

Final verdict, skip this series, on top of having to buy directly from the author its just not that good.

Just no, more Woke/PC garbage.

Dear Simp/Woke author,

Look femboy, I'm sure I'm your own feminine mind this is some kind of fantasy but how could you call this a Harem book?

Just FYI for those who are going to read this:

1.) Men in the story are weak and the women have the power. No exception because even the Supposed MC is basically just a guy that has some fighting capability but his completely untrained sister is just as good of a fighter.

2.) Guess who all the people in charge are? only women yep that's right. It's a total vertical taco fest. And on top of that the MC is basically vulnerable to anything the women do.

3.) For a supernatural book it's not really supernatural... unless you're a chick... then you have powers.

4.) The plot is horrible, even if you disregard the plot holes basically all of the side characters and main characters are complete idiots. there's no critical deductions and common since is just a no.

5.) This is a very short book which in itself isn't bad but by chapter 15 and 2 hours left and the MC hasn't even touched a weapon and there's only been 3 battles... which btw the female characters are all better than him at everything.

the cringe meter for the club scene is off the scales.
