Lanie Heron isn't looking for love—no surprise, considering her last serious relationship nearly got her killed. So when Lanie propositions Hop Kincaid, all she wants is one wild night with the hot-as-hell biker who patrols with the Chaos Motorcycle Club . . .
For Hop, Lanie has always been untouchable. She's too polished and too classy for his taste. But when she gives Hop the once-over with her bedroom eyes and offers him a night in paradise, he can't say no. And he doesn't regret it when he finds that Lanie is the best thing that's ever happened to him—in or out of bed. Now the trick will be to convince her of that.

We were introduced to both in Tack & Tyra's book (Motorcycle Man). Lanie is Tyra's best friend who had almost gotten killed because she stuck by her man (finance, Elliot Bellova) even after finding out about all of the trouble he was in due to his involvement with the Russian mob. Elliot was killed and Lanie became collateral damage as she experienced her own traumatic life events that the Chaos MC saved her from. For this, Lanie is a friend of the club and hangs out with Tyra and the gang at the compound. Lanie's beauty, cuteness (her flair for silly drama), and her "bedroom eyes" had gotten her noticed and admired by Hopper for years, but she was "class" and definitely not his usual type. Yet, it all changes when Lanie propositions Hopper for a " no complication, one night stand." (this proposition is in the prologue of the book, but not on the audiobook, unfortunately).
There are a lot of things I loved about Hop and Lanie's love affair. First of all, I love a hot, affectionate relentless alpha-male, and Hop is definitely that! Although it was Lanie who first initiated the rendezvous, it's Hop who insists on the continuation of the romance. And, this book is really a beautiful tribute of love between Hope and Lanie. Lanie has issues and Hop is patient and promises to help her win the battle with "the monster (the problems that tear her up from the inside out)." Hop is a great combination of classic biker tough and sweet, as honey, romantic. I thought it was so endearing to see how Hop cherished Lanie and told her how he'd never had "class" before. He almost displays a tender reverence or admiration for Lanie and formulates his own ideas on how Lanie needs to be treated, as a "lady"---_ Those parts are just cute and sweet. Lanie is definitely the damsel in distress here (but more due to psychologically-haunting issues), and she relents to Hop's advances and care of her. She also spoils Hop with her cooking, her deep love for him and his children.
For most of the book, their romance was blissful, but OMG, when these lovers fight while trying to merge both of their pasts, added to that, when both get mad at the same time---WATCH OUT! The drama that ensued between the lovers was really the only conflict that needed to be resolved along with telling others about their secret affair. If you are a helpless romantic and appreciate a great love story that centers on the individuals in the relationship, then you will love "Fire Inside."
Narrator: Kate Russell did a great job, as she always has with KA's audiobooks. Great listen!

With that said I didn't listen to the full audio book because I couldn't get past the narrator but having read the book previously I can say this book does not stand out like "Own the Wind" (which I absolutely loved) but in many ways it still worked. I have read reviews that say there wasn't as much excitement in this book but I've come to expect that by listening to the Dream Series. I don't think each book has to be full of drama and/or excitement to be right for the characters. This book flowed well for me and while I wanted to slap Lanie and Hop a time or two It worked for me.
Love the Book but not the Narrator

This was a great book. I wont say it's perfect but it's a great read and I'm so happy Hop & Lanie's story finally came out!
Lanie is messed up. She's a wonderful woman (if prone to being a bit of a drama queen) but life has made her afraid of living. She almost lost her life due to her late-fiancee's problems that led to being hunted down by the Russian mob. Now she's afraid to go out and even try again...this leads her to proposition Hop to a one night stand. They get their night but she doesn't expect there to be another night, and then another, and another...
Hop knows that Lanie's messed up and things with her will get complicated but her can't help himself because he likes her and is attracted to her. He's a good man and can see what Lanie needs and tries to give it to her and help her recover. I thought he did a good job at pulling her out of her funk and to start seeing life as worth living again.
Neither wants their relationship made public at first. Lanie still tried to convince herself and Hop that they're just having a fling long after it became a relationship. I think Hop wanted time to try to get her to accept them (as a couple) before anyone knew about them. Hop does pretty good at moving her along the path of healing and being protective but they do have their ups and downs. Outside of that, I really liked seeing their relationship and feelings for each other grow. Especially once she stopped fighting their growing relationship and started working with him.
This was a great book. It had humor and drama...not a lot of action but there's trouble brewing that's setting Chaos up for major issues in the next book. I really liked the ending...Lanie's surprise news & then Hop kidnapping her was great. I really enjoyed reading this book and am glad I bought it. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. I'd recommend this book. Thumbs up. :D
Really good addition to the series :D
