About this listen

Eighteen-year-old Aidan Salt isn't a superhero. With his powerful (and unpredictable) telekinetic abilities, he could be one if he wanted to, but he doesn't. He's unambitious, selfish, and cowardly, and he doesn't want to have to deal with all the paperwork required to become a professional superhero. But since the money, fame, and women that come with wearing the cape are appealing, he decides to become the first supervillain the world has seen in more than 20 years: Apex Strike.

However, he soon finds villainy in a world where the heroes have long since defeated all the supervillains. While half the world's heroes seem to want him dead, the other half want to hire him as their own personal villain to keep them relevant. Choosing the latter course, Aidan enters a world of fame, fortune, and staged superhero fights that is seemingly everything he ever dreamed of...at least until he sees what truly hides behind the cape-and-mask lifestyle.

I know we had pretty solid ending for this book, but all of the characters make me want a second book!

2nd book?

I expected this one to be a lot worse but wound up actually enjoying it in the end. Think of it as a cross between American Pie and Amazon's The Boys. There's a lot of talk about getting laid and women's body parts so if you are easily offended...this isn't for you. Otherwise, it is a nice twist on the already boring super hero genre. Netflix might want to think about making a series out of this one.

Almost Excellent

Excellent story all around! The world building and character growth are top class. The performance was great. Can’t wait for the next one!

It was nice to enjoy this story about fairly genuine supervillains. The unfolding want too predictable. This story is not for kids. The powers and applications were fun too. I usually listen to pretty heavy stuff and this was a nice retrieve. I would definitely recommend it.

Pretty good story, somewhat refreshing

I enjoyed this book quite a bit. The author kept the perspective if his main character very well. It read like the mind of a teenage Male virgin. easy to listen to. I look forward to the next book.

The story in this book is extremely entertaining and funny. For being a short listen the characters are decently filled. Well worth the time it took.

extremely funny

The book has no filter for cuss words or describing drugs, violence and sex. If that's something that'll bother you, turn away. That being said, I cuss like a sailor, so it didn't bother me at all.
I enjoyed the story and the characters quite a bit. I liked how descriptive it got at moments of introduction, but didn't feel the need each time you saw the same characters. There's a thick layer of lust and teenage internal monologue throughout the entire story, but not in a way that I felt hurt it. I think putting the entire thing inside a teenage boy's head, those things felt natural. I liked the talk of first string, second string heroes and villains. It kept an entertaining mental image vs the one at a time that we're used to. Battle scenes were well illustrated through the story along with bonds, friendships and sex scenes. It's not a book I'd rush to recommend to everyone... but if you're into the right genre, it's worth a read/listen.

Sex, Drugs, Violence and Death...

the story give the view of a super powered male high school graduate and his struggle with being a super villain and influencers with superpowers. while some might say the book is sexist, I view it as an 18 year old hyped up on hormones and superpowers. my only real complaint is just I wish I could see the a world map and it's factions because the author deals with a good amount of lore building.

I enjoyed it

This isn't the worst book on here, it was enjoyable enough. Way too sex focused for my taste though. " ooo, look at her body, look at the woman next to her, ooo I hope I bed this other one." Yes the MC is a teenage boy but that doesn't mean his every sexual thought needs to be included.

Not terrible, but the author needs to get laid

It was a fun filled self contained story about villainy and heros and how they mix. Very well narrated.
