On the day of Aiden and Olivia's math final, things take a surprise turn: The end of the world.
During Finals, the worst thing most people worry about is a failing grade. For Aiden and his sister Olivia, they must contend with the apocalypse. But at least there won’t be any more math tests!
With his trusty pen in hand, Aiden is determined to protect his sister no matter the cost. The future seems bleak as the school warps around them to become a maze of death and otherworldly monsters start appearing.
Essence, their one and only lifeline in this new world, changes everything, granting them power to fight back against the tide of chaos.
Aiden does what he must to survive and save his sister. In doing so, he begins to uncover the larger picture as a Quest leads them into the great beyond.
In a world of magic and monsters, all the cards are stacked against them. Do they have what it takes to work the System and come out on top?
Experience the start of an apocalypse LitRPG series from Chris Ford, the author of Dungeon Shop.

Good one
Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.
The MC relationship with his sister is…weird. I’m almost certain they will start dating at some point if the series continues.
The narration didn’t do it for me. He kept taking abnormally long pauses for seemingly no reason.
Ok…but

Relatable and engaging

First, if you're like me and can't stand melodrama, especially of the unearned variety, steer clear. Almost from the very first scene the protagonist (and the whole cast, really) overly dramatize everything - at least all the unappealing, negative emotions anyway.
Second, if being annoyingly melodramatic wasn't bad enough, making your protagonist a whiney child certainly doesn't make me like him more. Here's a tip, if, as an author, you can't be arsed to get into specifics about your litRPG systems, particularly numerically, don't address that by having your protagonist constantly complaining about not having enough information. YOU'RE creating the problem - for no reason, the lack of clarity serves no purpose - and forcing us to listen to your protagonist bitch about it.
The situation with the group of students who wouldn't lift a finger to defend themselves, and then had the audacity to demand anything from those defending them - the second the protagonist's sister even thought risking their lives for them for a possible idea, I think this story was dead for me. Doubly so because it didn't cause the tension between the brother and sister and his crush that it should have.
I think I almost stopped entirely when he called his legendary companion Blizzy.
I did stop when after a half of a book of the stupidity I've mentioned already, the book seemed to transition into teen romance nonsense.
Not for me chief.
I'm not going to bother with the remaining 5 hours. I listened to enough that I don't feel comfortable returning it, but I feel like I should out of principal. I just can't jive with stories where I don't like any of the characters.
Hated this
