About this listen

There's a reason We Are Legion (We Are Bob) was named Audible's Best Science Fiction Book of 2016: Its irresistibly irreverent wit! Bob Johansson has just sold his software company for a small fortune and is looking forward to a life of leisure. The first item on his to-do list: Spending his newfound windfall. On an urge to splurge, he signs up to have his head cryogenically preserved in case of death. Then he gets himself killed crossing the street. Waking up 117 years later, Bob discovers his mind has been uploaded into a sentient space probe with the ability to replicate itself. Bob and his clones are on a mission to find new homes for humanity and boldly go where no Bob has gone before.

Dennis E. Taylor’s hilarious novel sets the stage for the magnificent performance of Ray Porter, who revels in the brave new world of corpsicles, artificial intelligence, interstellar space probes, and space colonization in tantalizing detail.

We Are Legion (We Are Bob) is the first installment in the blockbuster Audible Original Bobiverse series - which has sold more than one million copies.

Fantastic Sci-fi with very unique plot!

This is a really good sci-fi book. It is not the normal genre for me but I found this while browsing and with an average rating of 4.5 with over 36K ratings I had to give it a try. I am so glad I did. I've just finished this book and already know what my next purchase will be: book 2!
This author has a really good writing style. There is a super story with a brilliantly unique plot. I think between the book's synopsis and all the other reviews I don't need to restate what this book is about. The writer incorporates a good amount of humor and sarcasm and a few times I actually found myself laughing out loud.
Ray Porter's narration is the best. He was perfect for this book.
This book has my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION!!

All hail Bob!

Would you listen to We Are Legion (We Are Bob) again? Why?

Absolutely! The plot is clever, the narrator does a really good job with the nuances of tone and emotion, and the story makes me wonder what being 'human' is really about. Love how Bob interacts with all of the different characters in the story.

What other book might you compare We Are Legion (We Are Bob) to and why?

It reminds me of some of Scalzi's sci-fi work (think Agent to the Stars or Miniatures). Entertaining, funny, who's really in charge, good characterization of non-human entities; an enjoyable ride from start to finish.

Have you listened to any of Ray Porter’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not. But I will, I'm sure. He has a solid range of voices, and -as already mentioned- is talented in nuance.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Bob's the man! errr... Men! errrr... Brains! errr.... ???

Original and Exciting

Who was your favorite character and why?

Is it too obvious to say "Bob"?! Well, Bob in all his forms.

What about Ray Porter’s performance did you like?

I love everything about every performance Ray Porter does; he is a fantastic narrator.

Any additional comments?

This was a different story than most of the scifi books that I have read recently, it was very original and I really enjoyed it. The combination of a great narrator and a great story line compounded into an extremely enjoyable experience.

Bobtastic

Its a good story but the ending was a bit abrupt but this isn't really a story that can have an end.

If Nostradamus were to write a review of this book it would look like:

Bob, despite being an atheist, successfully bought his way to Heaven, without even knowing that was what he was doing. On his journeys he meets a mariner and is accompanied by a guppy. Despite being worshipped as a god, the only to truly consider one is General Ackbar.

A fun science fiction/future fantasy romp.

A fun space romp. The idea is something that I have never heard before.

Ray Porter (the performer) knocks another one out of the park.
