About this listen

A malevolent presence lies in wait without their knowledge....

After a hard-fought battle in the heart, Progen has defeated the agents of the entity that wants to destroy the body he is determined to control. It was a temporary defeat, however, as the entity retreated up into the body’s brain, safely entrenched behind the blood-brain barrier that is preventing the dungeon crystal from accessing the coveted home base of the central nervous system. As he further establishes his control over the different systems that he can access, a grievous wound to the body creates a problem that could spell the end of his objective.

With the Thieves’ Guild basically destroyed by the Adventurer’s Guild in Graniton, thanks to help from the thief-turned-adventurer, Marstin Hardgrove, his prospects were only looking up. Having established himself as a trustworthy addition to the Guild, it didn’t take long before he was asked to join numerous adventuring teams as they tackled different quests. However, a disturbing discovery towards the north, where the tribes cultivate their Ice Caribou, will lead to a situation where Marstin’s friends are treated with suspicion back home. Worse than that, the old prejudices against thieves and former thieves come back to haunt him.

With hidden enemies preying on them from the shadows of anonymity, will Progen and Marstin be able to stop these vicious parasites from snatching away the lives they are striving towards?

If book 1 was for world/concept building, book 2 is where some of the characters are fleshed out and the plot starts getting your attention. I'm excited to see where book 3 goes, as there is so much potential here.

If you found book 1 to be a slow burner, keep listening. It picks up some in book 2 (in the last 3rd primarily). The authors are being thorough to give the story a solid foundation, but I'm expecting the story to heat up more in book 3.

I want to see where the series goes!

not the dungeon core we wanted but the one we needed... our dungeon "hero" is not what I expected but at the same time just sane enough to make things crazy

Never ceases to amaze me

I really enjoyed the second book in this series. I like the play between the two points if view, one for the dungeon and the other the human vessel. I am really looking forward to the next in the series!

Great story!

The performance was great but there were time when it would jump and skip missing a few sentences. The story was slow at times. I sometimes was wondering what was happening in side the body. When things were happening outside. I felt that there was a small disconnect between the two.

Overall great book I love reading all the dungeon core type books. Keep them comming.😁

overall good but

I actually like the book series, howevee m onl problem is the audio book. it cuts out every now and then for like 3s missing some info. I've tried it on my phone AND on my pc through Audible.com. still if that doesn't bother you or if you plan to read it, then its a fun book

the book is better than the audio
